The Latest

Congratulations to Julie Blazek and the team at HKP Architects on receiving an NWW AIA Design Award for their work on our current Museum space!! This is the third collaboration between CMSC and HKP Architects. Accessibility for children and adults to the exhibits and supervision were key priority design features, second only to providing opportunities for children to have fun, explore, learn, grow, and develop their motor skills. A focus on making things as real as possible has been a theme throughout so that children learn in real-world environments. The jurors were impressed that the firm’s services during the museum’s relocation involved strategic planning for a move that kept the museum operational, and in redeploying the exhibits, the firm reused materials and reconfigured them for new site conditions. Read their full press release here!

Please join Skagit Fisheries Enhancement Group and CMSC at Hansen Creek on Monday, Dec 13th at 1:30pm as they release the last few dozen coho salmon from the aquarium at the museum. These salmon came to the Museum as eyed eggs on January 7, 2021, hatched in early February, and have been delighting visitors ever since.  As part of the Salmon in the Classroom program, the Museum's salmon tank formed the basis of multiple virtual lessons and videos, enabling Skagit Fisheries to carry on with school programs despite pandemic school disruptions last year.  Most of their brethren went free in May, but a few dozen were retained for educational purposes, with permission by WA State Fish & Wildlife.

Holiday hours are hereby announced! Reservations can still be made online via our website or directly through Eventbrite. During winter break the Toy Store will remain open between sessions - store hours will be 10am-3pm.

Holiday Gift Wrap is back! Let us provide stellar wrapping for your gifts! Cost is based on the size of the gifts. Outside gifts are welcome!
