With ease-of-use improvements, more nimble navigation, and enhanced visualization of dashboard screens, the latest Squishy Robotics software update provides more and faster tools for situational awareness during emergencies.
New Year, New Software
Squishy Robotics marked the new year by releasing an update (version 1.3) for our Stationary Robot that focused on new software features and data display enhancements.
“We are very grateful for our Fire Department and HazMat team pilot partners—their advice and their product improvement suggestions are immeasurable,” said Lead Mechatronics Engineer Douglas Hutchings. Hutchings and company COO Deniz Dogruer hold regular video call meetings with pilot partners to talk about performance and operation problems and successes.
“Almost all of the software changes in this release are based on feedback from users who articulated how to improve data display so that our user interface (UI) could better inform responders during emergency response activities,” Hutchings stated. “Each new release is built on feedback from our pilot partners that informs the design and coding changes that our team makes. Both sides are invested in meeting the expanding needs of emergency responders.”
“Other features were informed by Squishy Robotics’ participation in theUnmanned Tactical Application Conference (UTAC)immersive conference/training event hosted by FLYMOTION in October and the Technology Incubation, Demonstration and Experimentation Support (TIDES) demonstration event sponsored by the Applied Research Lab at the University of Hawaii during the summer,” Hutchings explained. “Such hands-on, side-by-side work with first responders enables us to better understand their needs for fast and straightforward navigation through the UI and clear visualization of data.”
