Bees of Bee Cave through the windows of The Hive at Hill Country Galleria.

About the Bees of Bee Cave
Public Art Project

As the year draws to a close, we would like to thank our Bee artists, partners, and our Bee sculpture collectors for their support.

Did you know? The Bees of Bee Cave public art project is one of several community projects created by Bee Cave Arts Foundation. This colony of giant bee sculptures made their debut in Bee Cave, Texas at Hill Country Galleria in fall 2020. Each of the 10 super-sized bees were designed by talented local artists to celebrate the unique "buzz" of Bee Cave, from its hill country heritage to its vibrant contemporary style.

The artists include professional sculptors and painters, artists of color, international artists, a high school freshman, parents with a team of local elementary students, the Lake Travis National Charity League coordinator, an interior designer, and a Lake Travis High School art teacher. Bee Cave Arts Foundation is very proud of this public art project and all the amazing teams that were involved. The Bees are loved by the community and visitors, and make for a perfect photo op.

Our thanks go to Cis Dickson for the inspiration, Cheryl Latimer for creating the design and building the small clay model, Chris Olson at Global Mariner for the fabrication, Robert Childress for the hours of prep work, Kelly Moore Paints for their partnership, all the artists, and Hill Country Galleria for hosting the outdoor display. This is yet another perfect example of everyone working together to bring public art to our community!
