Hello, Friends!
In mid-summer, a bulldozer came to the Cozy Cottage and tore down our single-car garage. In its place, our builder built a new garage with basically the same footprint … only taller, to accommodate our beloved teardrop camper, Matilda. This, plus adding a new porch and some upgrades to the exterior of our house, and we are pleased with the results.
Living a simpler life is supposed to be about letting go of things, but over the past few years, I've realized that in our quest for a simpler life, there are certain "things" that take care of us in a profound way. First and foremost, our house takes very good care of us. It's got everything we need. Coming in at a close second is Matilda, the teardrop camper we bought in 2019. Since getting Matilda, we go out every chance we get. On weekends, we take advantage of state parks close by. Over the summers, Matilda has taken us on longer adventures around the perimeter of Lake Michigan, the Badlands, and Glacier National Park. In winters, she keeps us snug while we're nestled beneath an archway of snow-covered branches. (I kid you not—winter camping is easily my favorite.)
Because of the way Matilda shelters us, giving us spectacular views and cherished memories in nature while completely resetting our brains, it only feels right that we should shelter her. Seeing her nestled in her new little garage makes me happy. I like having her close. It's comforting knowing that she's tucked in, resting up. When we're itching for our next adventure, she'll be right there, ready to go.
xoxo,
