Professor Bert Holtslag – the 1st Sergej Zilitinkevich memorial award winner
The Sergej Zilitinkevich memorial award is an international award that will be delivered annually to a creative scientist who has made breakthroughs in atmospheric sciences or oceanography. The first winner was nominated at the Award Ceremony on 7 December 2021 as a part of ACCC Impact Week. Read more.

EGU-2022: PEEX Special Session on Observation, Modelling and Assessment in the Arctic-Boreal Domain
The session is aimed at resolving major uncertainties in Earth system science and global sustainability issues concerning the Arctic, Northern Eurasia and China regions. Deadline for abstract submission is 12 January 2022.

CRiceS kick-off-meeting – at Start of Four Year “Science Journey” into the Polar Regions
The kick-off-meeting of the Horizon-2020 project “Climate Relevant interactions and feedbacks: the key role of sea ice and Snow in the polar and global climate system” (CRiceS; 2021-2025) took place online during 12-14 October 2021 with about 80 participants from 14 countries. Read more.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in snowpack of subarctic and arctic regions as indicators of anthropogenic impacts
Ecological assessment of the anthropogenic impact on environment in subarctic and arctic regions remains the most important aim of the scientific research. Analysis of the content and composition of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the solid fraction of the snowpack was carried out in a number of expeditions at the north of Western Siberia. New Horizon-2020 RI-URBANS this Autumn
This project as a Research and Innovation Action is coordinated by Prof. Xavier Querol (Spanish National Research Council Spain, CSIC) and Prof. Tuukka Petäjä (University of Helsinki, UHEL, Finland). Global and regional modelling for the Arctic and Arctic seas – contribution of the Russian Sister Project to the Horizon-2020 CRiceS
The Russian Institute of Computational Mathematics and Mathematical Geophysics, as the Partner of the Horizon-2020 CRiceS project obtained financial support from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. The Russian national project became the Sister project to the CRiceS. Read more.

EGU-2022, Vienna, Austria, 3-8 April 2022
The last two General Assemblies, Sharing Geoscience Online in 2020 and vEGU21: Gather Online, were organized as virtual meetings due to the Covid-related restrictions. In 2022, the EGU aims to provide an on-site experience again for those attending in-person, while at the same time introducing new concepts to include virtual attendees as much as possible. 14th WMO Symposium on Education and Training
WMO Education and Training Office organizes the Symposium once every four years. This year, the theme of SYMET will be “Education and Training in a Period of Rapid Change”. Future Earth at COP26: Elevating Climate Science in Political Negotiations
The COP 26 UN Climate Change Conference, hosted by the UK in partnership with Italy, took place on 31 October - 12 November 2021 in the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) in Glasgow, UK.
