Dear Member of Leave No Trace

It could be said that the extraordinary diversity and outstanding quality of the Irish landscape is one of Ireland’s most important natural resources. Over the last several years, and most markedly since the start of the Covid pandemic, more and more of us are spending time outdoors, reconnecting with nature and experiencing the beauty and variety of habitats on our doorstep.

With the surge in numbers of people heading outdoors for recreational activities significant social and environmental impacts continue to be visible. We’ve all seen the most prevalent issues disrupting our natural beauty spots include littering, dog waste, livestock worrying, disturbance to wildlife, irresponsible car parking, overcrowding and damage from wild camping and wildfires.

With this in mind, Leave No Trace Ireland and its current partners* have run the Love This Place national radio campaign to raise public awareness to help combat these impacts. We’ve reached over three million radio listeners and over four million through social media, calling on everyone to exercise renewed care and responsibility when outdoors. However, we still have work to do.

Building on the momentum of the previous campaigns, and to continue to reinforce the message of exercising care and responsibility in the outdoors, I am writing to let you know that we are running the campaign in 2022.

As a member of Leave No Trace Ireland you’ll receive access to the campaign partner pack and I’d encourage you to share messaging across your own network helping to build campaign reach.

You no doubt understand the pressing need to continue to raise awareness of the issues that disrupt and impact on our beautiful landscapes and how we can all reduce these.

If you’d like to support the campaign in a more official capacity through contribution of time, money, or services please get in touch.
