Looking forward to 2022

This has been a challenging year and as it comes to a close we would like to thank organisations in the borough and beyond for your continued enthusiasm and support working with us to tackle the climate crisis.

Against the backdrop of COP26 held in Glasgow, we celebrated the progress being made in Camden on climate action at our event in November with various activities and projects highlighted in a celebratory digital showcase. Thanks to all who contributed and shared their inspiring climate action projects. Read more about the event here.

The Climate Action Plan first annual review has also been recently published outlining progress on the ambitious five-year programme of projects and initiatives that brings to life a vision of a net zero-carbon borough by 2030.

In 2021 the Camden Climate Pledge was also launched borough-wide alongside the Camden School Climate Charter, with both frameworks embodying the net zero ambition and encouraging businesses and schools to do all that they can.

Next year we’ll continue to build on these initiatives and various collaborative projects between businesses and the community. Keep a look out on the CCCA collaborative projects webpage to find out more and how you can get involved.

We look forward to continuing to work together in the year ahead.

Wishing you all a safe and relaxing break.

Climate Action Plan: 2020-21 Annual Review

At the end of November, Camden Council published its first Annual Review of the Climate Action Plan (CAP).

The CAP sets out Camden's vision to be a net zero carbon borough by 2030, with 4 key vision areas and corresponding actions, informed by the 17 recommendation's that citizen's put forward at Camden's Citizen Assembly on the Climate Crisis.

The review captures key achievements from across the last year, as well as the progress of actions, supported by an action 'dashboard' to provide a benchmark for progress and future annual reviews.

Key highlights include:
  • 4 CCCA members received over £11m from the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme
  • 15 new Healthy School Streets
  • Camden opened it's first 'Library of Things' at Kentish Town Library
  • 1058 people received advice from the Green Camden Helpline saving a collective £63,840 on energy bills
  • 165 electric vehicle charging points, 71 new bike hangars and over 12km of segregated cycle lanes installed
  • £52,000 of funding awarded to residents and businesses from the Camden Climate Fund
