Career Development / Hiring Events & Opportunities:

• Due to taking a break over the next couple of weeks, this will be the last PVCC hiring eNewsletter for 2021 but we'll email again in the New Year when classes start up on 1/10 (but appointments are still available up until 12/23)!  We will continue to share jobs on Facebook and College Central Network.  Mark your calendar for our spring semester events:  Computing / IT / Cyber Careers Expo on February 24, 37th Annual Job Fair on March 30 and Summer Jobs & Internships Fair on April 14.  
• Virginia Career Works (VCW) hosts a weekly virtual job search prep workshop on Tuesdays, at 2pm.  This week's topic is Workforce Skills that Employers Seek. Registration required.  Their Thursday, Employers of the Week, are Goodwin William Staffing and Anthology Senior Living. Registration required.  Goodwin William Staffing has administration, construction, skilled trades, hospitality and MORE jobs in Charlottesville, Albemarle, Fluvanna, Louisa, Greene and Nelson Counties.  Anthology Senior Living seeks cooks, caregivers, housekeepers and servers for this all-new Charlottesville community located off of Rt. 29 between Walmart and Target.  
• G3 Global Hiring is hosting a Virtual Hiring Event on Tuesday, December 14, 11am-2pm.  It is open for all Jobseekers, Veterans, Military Spouses, Students/Recent Graduates and Persons with a Disability.  This is NOT a local hiring event.

• Senior Helpers of the Blue Ridge seeks Helpers!  They offer competitive wages, flexible shifts and ongoing training.  
• Loving Arms Care seeks part-time PCA/ Personal Care Assistant/ CNA/ caregivers to support physically or mentally challenged customers in their everyday lives.
• Westminster-Canterbury has been great to post more full-time jobs on CCN. In addition to their  Fitness & Aquatics Instructor position, they also posted a Clinical Nurse Manager and MDS Coordinator for experienced nurses and a Marketing Coordinator position (bachelor's degree required).
• Attention those who want a part-time, flexible, no-experience-necessary, entry-level job supporting patients at UVA. They seek a part-time PRN (work when needed) Patient Companion that pays $13-19/hour.
• UVA's Employee Health seeks a part-time Call Center Specialist paying $13-19/hour.
• UVA's Orthopedic Center seeks a Patient Services Assistant paying $15+/hour. This is an entry-level position that helps to maintain patient safety and cleanliness/inventory of the center.
• The Shelter for Help in Emergency is seeking to fill an hourly relief staff position for overnights & weekend days (not to exceed 40 hours weekly) paying $15/hour with a flexible schedule. Duties include answering the 24-hour hotline, providing crisis intervention & referrals, offering support to clients in residence, & maintaining proper record-keeping of activities. • Charlottesville City Dept. of Social Services has a second Self-Sufficiency Specialist (this one is a long-term/temporary position; the other in last week's eNewsletter was regular full-time) opening that pays $18.85 and $20.68 an hour. Apply by 12/20/22.

• Trinity Presbyterian Church seeks a Nursery Worker for the nursery on Sunday and/or Wednesday mornings from ~8:30 AM- 12:30 PM paying $12/hour.
• Virginia ABC seeks both a part-time Lead Cashier paying $14.08/hour *and* Sales Associates paying $12.98/hour.
• Goodwill Industries of the Valley seeks both full-time and part-time Sales Associates or Donated Goods Processors - both paying $13/hour to start.
• Attention BRCC Vet Tech alumni - UVA has a full-time opening for you. Anticipated hiring range is $20.00-$30.00 per hour (or $41,600-62,400 annualized) commensurate with qualifications, with UVA benefits.
• WorldStrides has started their hiring for a summer program called Envision Experience. They are currently seeking 20 advisors for their National Security program which is a paid on-site position at the University of Maryland, College Park, with offsite visits around the D.C. area. Lodging and meals are covered, and they are able to offer compensation for travel to/from the program site. The program runs five sessions in the months of June and July.

• Interested in alternative energy? Generation 180 has a number of positions:  two part-time paid ($15/hour) internships - Solar Energy Research (apply by 1/3) and a Clean Transportation & Energy Internship plus a full-time Electrify your Ride Program Manager (paying $50-70,000 - 5 years of related experience required).  
• Interested in the field of human resources? Goodwin William Staffing is seeking a full-time Staffing Coordinator paying $35-42,000.  Be sure to talk with them on Thursday, 12/16 at 1pm via Virginia Career Works' Employer of the Week.
• Northside Library seeks a part-time Shelver paying $11-14.30/hour. Apply by 12/22/21.
• The Covenant School seeks a Lower School Receptionist.
• UVA's Home Infusion Pharmacy seeks a full-time Administrative Assistant paying $15-19/hour. This would be a great way for PVCC's pharmacy tech students to get their foot in the door before they get their license!  
• UVA Community Credit Union is still seeking a PVCC student to work in their on-campus branch! They have a number of other part-time (and full-time) positions.
• Management Services Corporation (MSC) is seeking an experienced Marketing Manager for their main multifamily leasing office in Charlottesville, affectionately known as the Madhouse.
• Park Lane Finance Solutions of Staunton, one of The Caton Companies, is seeking a Mortgage Servicer - Title Specialist.
• The Summer Transportation Internship Program for Diverse Groups (STIPDG) is an exciting opportunity for undergraduate (must be a second year community college student OR a junior if attending a 4-year college), graduate, and law students to have a meaningful internship at the U.S. Dept of Transportation and receive a generous stipend. Housing provided. Applications are being accepted until 1/31/22.

• Amazon seeks IT Support to work in Waynesboro.
• UVA's School of Data Science seeks a part-time, full stack Software Developer to assist in the development of a conversational agent that will be used as a feedback tool in training teachers. Please note that experience counts in lieu of a bachelor's degree. This pays $32-60/hour.
• UVA's College of Arts and Sciences is currently seeking an Information Technology Specialist to join the Arts and Sciences Computing Services team. Please note that the description says OR experience when it mentions the bachelor's degree. A number of PVCC alumni have been able to land this position without the bachelor's degree (but be sure to submit a great resume and cover letter!).
• Booz Allen Hamilton has a full-time Junior Stack Cloud Developer opening for candidates with a bachelor's degree and an ability to get a security clearance.
• DecisionOne has a Field Services Technician opening for someone who can fix Epson printers, have A+ certification and able to get a government security clearance.
• Dobil Laboratories has a part-time Audio Visual Technician opening. 
• UVA has an Elevator Assistant Mechanic position that would complete the four-year CET Training Curriculum that is provided by the department, which is a combination of on-the-job training and 12 courses of home-based study. This position pays $40-52,000. Great way to learn an electrical trade!
• The VA Dept. of Transportation seeks an Equipment Repair Technician paying $38,360-$47,950 to work in Staunton.
• Updated - Google offers FREE technical training for 7-days (and then you would pay a Coursera fee of $39/month) as part of their Grow Google program:  IT Support, Data Analytics, UX Design and Project Management Certificates.  On top of that, UVA is offering a $5000 scholarship to finish your four year degree at UVA's BIS program for those with Google Certificates.  This could be a good investment in your future BUT see if the LinkedIn Learning (in the first section) could give you the same thing for free until March 2022!

• Goodwin William Staffing posted a number positions on College Central Network including a FT Carpenter ($22-26/hour), FT or PT Dishwashers/Bussers ($15-17/hour), FT Custodial Maintenance ($14-15/hour) and a FT/Temp Custodian paying $15/hour. Be sure to talk with them on Thursday, 12/16 at 1pm via Virginia Career Works' Employer of the Week.
• Love plants? Then Snows Garden Centers wants to talk with you! They seek part-time or full-time Garden Center Associates paying $14.50-$16.50/hour.
• Monticello seeks a full-time Nursery Associate to work at the Center for Historic Plants, located at Tufton Farm. Apply by 12/17.
• Stevie G's Gluten Free Bakery seeks an Assistant Baker / Baker to work in Waynesboro.  Apply on College Central Network. 
• Gopuff is seeking a Line Cook/Kitchen help paying $16-18/hour.
• Insomnia Cookies has a number of openings including part-time shift leads, delivery drivers and cookie crew members *and* a full-time Manager in Training  for their Charlottesville bakery.
• Virginia Service and Conservation Corps (VSCC) has opportunities to serve in all Virginia state parks. With 40 State parks, the service location options are endless in an urban, rural and even water park setting. These are 1200 hour positions. Apply by 1/14 for this full-time Americorps position that runs from January through September. Housing and living expenses ($12,000) are covered with a final $4546 education stipend upon completion.
