In a final Fact Sheet, the leaders of Canada, the US, and Mexico recognized “the complex factors that have driven an increase in irregular migration through the hemisphere, and acknowledged that they require a coordinated regional response with respect for law, rooted in solidarity with migrants and among States, prioritizing orderly, safe, and regular migration.”  Read

Considering why so many Central Americans are setting off on dangerous irregular migration journeys, the report finds that there is virtually no way that they can move through regular, legal, safe channels.  Read 

Independent Canadian Senator and WRMC member Ratna Omidvar has re-tabled the Frozen Assets Repurposing Act in the Canadian Senate. The Act advances the WRMC’s call for governments of countries in which regimes have deposited financial assets to develop appropriate legal measures to confiscate and repurpose such assets for the benefit of the people in the country of origin, including forcibly displaced persons.  Read
