New Year, New You, New Opportunities

Happy New Year! Have you picked a New Year's resolution yet? Our resolution is to bring more meals and services to even more seniors this year. We know it is the same resolution every year, but every year is a new challenge! In 2021, despite a raging pandemic, an unprecedented freeze, and many setbacks, you still helped deliver more than 1 MILLION meals to seniors and homebound neighbors all across San Antonio!

This year you can help us go even bigger. With a new building on the way, you now have the opportunity to provide more than a meal to countless more members of your community. A new year brings new opportunities and new ways for you to make an impact on the lives of the most vulnerable members of our community! You can sign-up today and start the new year by making a New Year's resolution to make a difference in your community!

Ice Storm Prep: Winter Storm Kit Distribution

Last year, an ice storm caused hardship for many seniors around San Antonio. The historic storm busted pipes, ruined wiring, and left many seniors dealing with heating, housing, and electric issues that they are still reeling from today. These problems were only exacerbated by the uncertainty of when they would receive their next meal delivery, leaving many seniors feeling drained and helpless.

This year, we hope to not have another freeze, but we can make sure our clients are prepared. Which is why every older and disabled homebound client will receive Winter Storm Kits. This will be our biggest distribution event ever (even bigger than Thanksgiving!!) and we need your help to make it happen. You can volunteer to deliver kits on Saturday, January 22 from 8:30 AM-11:30 AM! Sign up today!

Employee Spotlight: First on the Scene
Meet Beau Tipton! You may not know Beau, but for many senior and homebound neighbors, he is the face of Meals on Wheels San Antonio. He and those on his team are the first called and first seen when a neighbor is in need, making sure our neighbor gets set up with all the support and resources they need.

Beau joined the team in August of this year, and during his short time here he has made a lasting impact on the lives of many senior neighbors, being their connection to support and services, and creating lasting relationships with our amazing clients!

Grace Place Alzheimer's Services

Last year we introduced Graceful Gatherings as an opportunity to allow caregivers and their loved ones with Alzheimer’s Disease or dementia a chance to gather with others for socialization, peer support, caregiver education, tips, and resources. We are so grateful it has been so well received.

This year, we hope to continue to offer and expand on the services offered by Grace Place to better support our neighbors living with dementia and their loved ones who care for them. This will mean more Graceful Gatherings, more support, and more opportunities to get engaged!

Caregiver Support Group

We will also be hosting our monthly virtual caregiver support group. The support group will be held Saturday, January 8 at 10 am. In partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association, Meals on Wheels San Antonio's caregiver support is a time where caregivers come to find resources, ideas, and, most importantly, support.
