Welcome to The Pilates Studio - Sabrina!
We are delighted to welcome Sabrina, Second Generation Pilates Teacher and Educator, to The Pilates Studio, from January 2022.
As well as us mere mortals, she works with competitive skaters, skiers and canoeists from the GB team. She is an outdoor enthusiast, so if she is not in the Pilates Studio helping clients achieve their goals, you will find her on the hills: walking, running, climbing, mountain biking, or skiing.
Sabrina's outlook towards life is always be learning, overcoming fears and look for new challenges. Click here to book a session.

TAH DAH!!
We have a new Identity

Inspired by the symbol of teacher and client coming together to build something new - a third creation - an improvement through synergy. The motif of the three enveloping swirls represents the magic of that synergy, nature and of course includes a Scottish vibe!
Many thanks to Catriona of Dojo Design for all her help and musings. We have been busy and I am delighted with the results.
I will be sharing the stories and inspirations behind the brand development over on Facebook and Instagram. If you don't already follow me there, click below and keep an eye on it over Restmas Time.

NEW CLASS
An Introduction to Classical Pilates - 4 week course
Starts Monday 10th January at 7pm
In the Same Room - only 4 places available
Zoom - 11 places available
As well as our regular contemporary classes, I am delighted to offer a NEW way to practice Pilates, either online or in person.
Classical Pilates is generally thought to be closest to the way Joseph Pilates originally meant Pilates to be taught - a “system” with sequence and progression: each movement building your strength, balance and focus to more complex and challenging moves.
You will learn how to uniformly develop your body, challenge your coordination, sweat a little and ultimately “own” your own practice. This self agency will teach you independence of mind and of your own physical development.

How well does your Spine Twist?
|
|
|
Going over on your ankles? Need "supportive shoes"? The most frequent injury in ankles can be avoided by looking at how you move and where you move from.
Do you have the full range of movement available to you in each joint. or are other joints compensating and needing orthotic support? Would you like to improve your sports and avoid injury?
There are many rotations in a body but are they all available to you? If one piece of the body does not move well (or to it's full potential) then it starts to rely on the other parts - and they may not be designed to do that job. Ouch...
This class will help you find where the tensions and relationships lie and how to start to teach the tissue and persuade the bones - so you can use your body more fully. And importantly, spread the loads across the body rather than relying on the same parts all the time; or having compression and tension imbalances.

I cannot tell you
how the light comes.
What I know
is that it is more ancient
than imagining.
That it travels
across an astounding expanse
to reach us.
That it loves
searching out
what is hidden
what is lost
what is forgotten
or in peril
or in pain.
That it has a fondness
for the body
for finding its way
toward flesh
for tracing the edges
of form
for shining forth
through the eye,
the hand,
the heart.
I cannot tell you
how the light comes,
but that it does.
That it will.
That it works its way
into the deepest dark
that enfolds you,
though it may seem
long ages in coming
or arrive in a shape
you did not foresee.
And so
may we this day
turn ourselves toward it.
May we lift our faces
to let it find us.
May we bend our bodies
to follow the arc it makes.
May we open
and open more
and open still
to the blessed light
that comes.
