Earlier in 2021 we began to highlight some of the volunteers who make a difference at RVCC. We're doing this for a couple of reasons. First, we want our volunteers to know that we see you and appreciate you. We could not make a church the size of RVCC function without you! Also, we want to give examples of the huge variety of ways there are to serve at RVCC. There really is a place for everyone!

Meet Conner, Irma, and Kellen!

Early in 2020, after being invited by friends, Conner and Irma McGillick and their young son, Kellen, visited RVCC Graham for the first time. They’d been talking for some months about finding a church, so they came, and even though our services went completely online shortly after their first visit, they stayed. We’re so glad they did!

Despite the craziness of 2020, the McGillicks didn't waste any time jumping into life at RVCC. They were baptized in December 2020, just a couple of months before signing up for Rooted, then they continued with their Rooted group as it formed a Community Group. They have also both found a place to serve and make a difference.

You’re likely to see Irma shortly after you arrive at RVCC Graham, as she makes and serves your morning cup of coffee. As you enter the auditorium, take a look to the left where you may see Conner serving at the sound booth, helping to make our Sunday services look and sound great.

We asked the McGillicks why they decided to begin serving. Irma said, “I decided to start serving because I wanted to get more involved in the church. I really wanted to commit myself to this church and I figured what better way to commit than to volunteer?!” Conner, on the other hand, wanted to give back in some capacity so that others may find their way to the Lord.

When asked about the benefits of getting involved in this way, Conner said that he’s seen more spiritual growth in his life, and much more happiness. “I truly feel I can reach out to the RVCC community and serving has allowed me to be more in-touch with that. My relationship with God has become stronger than it has ever been.” From her post at the coffee counter, Irma observes, “I have been able to meet and get to know many of the people that attend! Also, knowing that doing something as small as coffee in the morning could possibly help someone have a better worship experience is great!”

Thank You Conner & Irma for
Choosing to Make a Difference!

Finding a place to serve makes a difference not only for those who are being served, but in those sharing their time and their talents. Conner and Irma have immersed themselves in the life of RVCC, and by prioritizing involvement, they are known, they are growing in their faith, and they are making a difference. This is exactly what we hope to see with every person who walk through our doors. Church isn’t just about an experience each Sunday, but about finding your place in the family. If you’re ready to find your place to make a difference or connect with a small group, hit reply and let’s talk!
