New Service Time – 10:00am from January 2nd 2022.
Thank you everybody for sending through to us your feedback. Parish Council met last week, and having received an overwhelmingly positive response to this proposal, have agreed to move our service time forward to 10:00. Thank you to everyone who got back to us, especially to those who expressed their concerns over this. A few people suggested we think about starting a second service, which was quite encouraging to hear. I hope that starting another service is something we are able to achieve in the not too distant future, if God willing we outgrow our current space.
To keep things simple, we will keep meeting at 11:00 for the rest of this year, and come the first Sunday in 2022, move forward an hour to 10:00.
I hope this earlier change will serve us all well. I hope it will help us spend more time together, whether that be over a cuppa after the service or to start inviting one another out for lunch. It should also give us some more flexibility with how our church services are structured. Can I encourage you to start thinking about who you can invite over for lunch in the new year.
Christmas Eve for Everyone, 5pm BBQ, 6pm Carols.
This year, we want to celebrate Christmas together, with a service for everyone. Instead of having multiple services of different styles that mean we never get to celebrate together, we are going to try something different. We will have a free BBQ at 5pm, which it would be great if you could bring a salad or something else to share. We will have a service start at 6pm. The service will be a mix, we will sing carols both old and new. We will have the kids present an all age talk about the true meaning of Christmas. And we will also share the Lord’s Supper together, to remember why Jesus was born that night long ago in Bethlehem.
I hope it will be a time for us to enjoy celebrating Christmas together, but also an easy invite to invite some of your family and friends who don’t normally come along to church, for them to hear what Christmas is all about, and the wonderful life giving hope it brings. So please be praying, and be thinking about people you could be inviting to join you that night.

Kids Church News: Last church news we heard about the new older kids group that has seen them taking on a more active role in serving our church. This has continued to blossom, and by all reports our older ones are really enjoying being able to serve.
With our visiting preachers last month, I was able to head downstairs and check in with how the younger group is fairing. I was very much impressed with the great job our leaders are doing at Kids Church, and loved seeing the joy our little ones had in learning about Jesus.
On this particular week, they spent some time writing letters of encouragement, and drawing pictures to send away to Maurice & Amanda. This was a wonderful idea to not only help our children be thinking about spreading the gospel around the world, but a practical way of showing we love and care for the Jacobsons.
Can I encourage you to say hello to some of our young people, and offer them some encouragement for the good work they are doing.

Mission: Maurice & Amanda
Well, it was no joke as the storm clouds gathered over our village one afternoon and Maurice started feeling ill, by the evening he'd developed a high fever. We keep covid tests in the house just in case, and we were a little nervous but not surprised, when his test was positive. This meant isolation in our room of the house, and constant monitoring of his symptoms. We were VERY thankful to have the reassurance of being double vaccinated, but even with that protection, things got a little scary more than once. This was especially so with the knowledge that our local hospital would not accept anyone seriously ill with covid. We thank everyone for their prayers; there were a couple of occasions when things didn't look so good, but then suddenly, for no apparent reason, his symptoms changed for the better. Praise God! He's still recovering, and we're just taking it day by day.
Harvest time ... has arrived in Cambodia! The lush green rice fields of a few weeks ago have turned golden brown and from early morning till evening, we see workers out in the fields cutting rice stalks by hand and tying them into bundles ready for threshing. Covered from head to toe to protect them from the sun, these workers, usually all members of the one family, slowly make their way across the field, backs bent, sickle in hand, carefully selecting the rice and leaving the weeds uncut.
The Harvest is plentiful ... As Jesus walked through towns and villages, people came to him with their illnesses, complaints and everyday struggles. He saw that there was much more to fullness of life than just being healed of sickness. He saw that people have a desire to know what the meaning of life is, what their purpose is, and most importantly, are they loved? He spoke to those who were eager to learn from him and explained that people were just like a harvest. They were ready to be brought into God's kingdom, which is full of love, and shown the meaning and purpose of their lives. But, he said, there was a great need for workers to go out in the field and bring them in.

- For Maurice's strength to continue to return, and that there would be no underlying problems on his road to recovery.
- For our language learning, and our language teachers.
- For safety for our neighbours, who have loaded their tuktuk with rugs and mats and are travelling the provinces selling their wares.
