December update
We wanted to let you know about candle vigils happening outside MLA offices in Castlegar and Nelson on Monday December 13 at 5 pm, as part of a BC-wide initiative called #candles4climate. Please read on to learn more.
WHAT: Candle-lit events to commemorate those who have died in the heat dome, floods, and other climate-related disasters this year — and call on elected representatives to confront the climate emergency and help prevent future deaths.
WHERE: In front of MLA offices across the Province including Nelson and Castlegar.
In Nelson: Brittny Anderson's constituency office at 433 Josephine St.
In Castlegar: Katrine Conroy’s constituency office at 103 3rd St.
WHY: Come together with your community to commemorate lives lost, hold government accountable, and demand emergency climate action.
WHEN: Monday, December 13 at 5 PM
Please share this with others who might be worried about climate change. A few things to make sharing easier: our blog and Facebook event page.
Bring a candle or LED light (handy if it is raining or snowing); dress for the weather and consider reflective clothing to be better seen; masks recommended.

REMINDER!
BC Royalty Review consultation ends this Friday, December 10 at 4pm PT.
Royalty credits are BC’s biggest fossil fuel subsidy in BC. These subsidies highly incentivize fracked gas, which is polluting our climate, water, and lands. See BC Climate Alliance's submission for some talking points.
You can participate in two ways:
1. Fill in the survey linked here. Don’t worry about some of the technical questions, which you can skip, but do be sure to:
- Ask that these royalty credits be removed as soon as possible with no grandfathering.
- Ask that the government put the environment first
- Ask the government to stop incentivizing fracked gas with these out of date credits.
2. Or, send a written submission via email to royaltyreview@gov.bc.ca
Wishing you a rejuvenating holiday season spent in ways that brings meaning to your life.
Warmly,
Laura and Judy
