FILM PREMIERE & ARTIST TALK
Sascha Brosamer & Chi Him Chik
“NO ONE WANTS IT"
Directed by Ronen Eldar & Oliver Zimmermann
As filmmakers and creatives we not only have an opportunity but also an obligation to reflect the world we live in.
The film, also titled “No One Wants It”, moves away from a conventional documentary style and narrative to bring a more abstract and fluid style, reminiscent of No Wave Cinema. In order to reflect the improvised and unique approach of Sascha Brosamer and Chi Him Chik’s work, as filmmakers we took inspiration from the sound or noise they create and mirror this in some of the cinematography.
We made a deliberate choice to shoot the whole interview on a moving train which caused technical challenges but also links to the fact that many of the police atrocities happened on the Hong Kong underground.
Whilst the gritty urban landscape of Berlin is in part Sascha Brosamer’s home, it is in contrast to Hong Kong, a relatively safe space to set the film - however it also has a very recent history of oppression from an authoritarian regime that took the science of controlling the population to a frightening level.
Art as a form of protest has historically taken an important role in spreading the message of discontent. This film aims to to document a moment in time and bring the sound and visuals of descent to a wider global audience.

PERFORMANCE
“NO ONE WANTS IT”
Sascha Brosamer (Tennis Racket, Gramophone)
Chi Him Chik (Megaphone, DJ Console)
An audiovisual performance pays homage to the fallen pearl, reflects the cycle of pain and tears of the lost city Hong Kong, voices and screams for the victims of violence. With Noise, the expression and thoughts are made possible. Chaos will be the new colour, hoarse will be the new song; no one in, and no one out. At this moment, change is the only way, logic and love is the only potion. At this moment, everyone is a revolution.
