“My class has been a really wonderful experience for me! I've learned so much and I've produced so much work. The art of combining storytelling with illustration feels so right to me. …I'm so happy I received the scholarship.”
– F.D. Scott, Hugo House student
This year, support access to creative writing.
In 2021, Hugo House awarded almost $28,000 in scholarships to adult and youth students, as well as to our six emerging fellows. But with classes moving online and reaching more writers, we’re receiving more scholarship requests than ever.

You can help make it possible for us to say "yes" to more writers in our community who are seeking financial assistance by contributing to Hugo House's scholarship fund »

I cannot say just how grateful I am for Hugo House…it has provided me such a great opportunity to be a writer, but also it’s just introduced me to some of the greatest people… I got to meet six other amazing writers who now I can confidently say have played such a role in my career… because of Hugo House I feel so inspired and encouraged to be a writer…”
–Cassidy Dyce, Fellow 2020–21
