WE'RE IN THIS TOGETHER
As we reach the final month of the year 2021 and look back at where we started in January, we are filled with deep gratitude and appreciation of our achievements. Plagued by Covid- 19 restrictions and the delays in service due to increased infections in the workplace, we endeavoured to rise above the challenges thus marking 2021 as yet another successful year.

I thank our team of contracted staff for their passion and dedication towards schooling for excellence.

Mr M.E. Faleni, Principal of Kwanokuthula Primary, was welcomed as the new chairperson of the board of directors as we bade farewell to Mrs M. van Rooyen, previous chairperson, who had dedicated many years of service to the foundation.

We look back on the programmes of 2021 with a sense of achievement at the impact the Bitou 10 Foundation continued to make with the support of donors and partners, passionate about uplifting education.

Season’s greetings to all

BITOU 10 FOUNDATION MASKS UP
The principals of the nine schools represented by the Bitou 10 Foundation indicated an urgent need for disposable masks for learners earlier this year. No learner can attend school without a mask.

And so the B10F embarked on a mask drive in preparation for the year 2022, when learners from The Crags Primary, Wittedrift Primary, Formosa Primary, Kwanokuthula Primary, Phakamisani Primary, Murray High, Plettenberg Bay Secondary, Kranshoek Primary and Harkerville Primary, all of which are non-fee paying schools, will have a stock of masks available to them, thanks to the generous donations from the people of Plett.

Collection bins were placed at several strategic points, and we extend our thanks to Pick ‘n Pay, Beacon Isle Kwikspar, Park Avenue Stationers, Plett Tourism, Melville Spar, the NG Kerk in Wittedrift, Plett Medicine Depot and The Clean Shop.
In the 2-month period 2 177 masks were collected to help keep Bitou learners in school, affording them an equal opportunity to learn. Our largest sponsor, PNA, donated 1 450 masks towards the drive! A heartfelt thank you to David Wilms, owner of PNA, Plettenberg Bay.

Our Khanya learners from Murray High and Plett Secondary did not go without either. Each learner on the Khanya programme received sanitiser, a mask and a face shield from generous and much appreciated donations from Delia’s Coffee Shop, Spot On and the Crags Fire Management Unit.

LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEW YEAR!
The Bitou 10 Foundation is extremely thankful for your generosity and support over the last year as we have traversed several rocky roads and reached milestones that at times seemed out of reach. We look forward to another year of association and endeavour with all who make up the extended B10F family – the learners, the teachers, the principals, our programme facilitators, the board and staff of Bitou 10 Foundation, and our sponsors who fuel the Bitou 10 Foundation operations.
The B10F office will be closed from 15 December 2021 to 10 January 2022
