Sinclair holds ‘Producer Academy’ webinar!
Sinclair Broadcast Group is holding a free virtual “Producer Academy” webinar on Wednesday, Jan. 12 from 10 a.m. to noon (Tucson time) for students and recent grads interested in pursuing careers in newscast and digital news producing. TV news directors and producers from Sinclair news operations nationwide will be presenting on:
- How producers can contribute creatively to the content gathering process.
- The investigative approach to producing.
- How to create unique stories on digital platforms.
- What a producer’s first year in the newsroom may be like.
- Tips on applying for newsroom jobs.

Report for America accepting applications
Report for America is looking to place more than 100 journalists in local newsrooms to report on under-covered issues and communities. Apply now if you're graduating in December 2021 or May 2022. Early deadline is Dec. 31; final deadline is Jan. 31, 2022. Contact Earl Johnson, director of admissions, for info sessions via Zoom every Thursday. Newhouse Graduate Newspaper Fellowship for Minorities
Students from underrepresented groups interested in earning an advanced degree in journalism can consider the Newhouse Graduate Newspaper Fellowship for Minorities, which provides students with the opportunity to earn a tuition-free master’s degree in magazine, news and digital journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. Two students per year are chosen for the competitive program, which combines 18 months of graduate study and a professional internship. In addition to a full-tuition scholarship, students receive a monthly stipend of $1,400, health insurance coverage and more than $3,000 in additional benefits. The application deadline is Jan. 15, 2022. Candidates must provide three letters of recommendation, a résumé and a personal statement. No GRE is required.
