Adult Faith Formation (RCIA) Newsletter

Week of December 5-11 2021

Greetings Participants and Parishioners! It’s the 2nd Week of Advent!

The these for this week of Advent is Peace. And I don’t know about you but it seems like this week always comes at the time when the worldly Christmas season is anything but peaceful. There are deadlines, recitals, shopping lists, and a myriad of other things trying to rob you of your peace. But Christ is asking you to hold on to your peace, and hold on to the hope that in a few more weeks, we will be celebrating Emmanuel, God with us.

Yesterday during Mass many of our Inquirers received their first Rite of
Acceptance/Rite of Welcome.
It was amazing watching them take this important step. Jocelyn captured some great pictures for us!

Here is our schedule for the rest of December:

This Wednesday, December 8, instead of having class in the Assisi Room you are all invited to join us for mass inside the church at 6pm as we celebrate the feast day of The Immaculate Conception. This is a Holy Day of Obligation, which means, just like every Sunday, are to attend mass. Please read the Catechism paragraphs 2180-2183 for more on this. You are also invited to come to Vespers before mass at 5pm inside the Church, it is a time of prayer before mass starts.

Wednesday, December 15 St Isidore School will be performing their annual Advent Program in the Parish Hall at 6pm. Since they will need the Assisi Room to set up we will need to cancel class that week. But you are all invited to come and watch the Advent Program, it will surely be amazing!

Wednesday, December 22 we were originally not going to hold class since it is so close to Christmas, but we have decided to have a potluck dinner instead. Invite your family and come enjoy a relaxing evening and conversation with us. Bring a dish to share! Let me know if you plan on coming so we can prepare.

We meet for Breaking Open the Word every Sunday at 10am Mass. After the priest’s homily, he will call forward all who are participating in RCIA. He says a blessing over you then dismisses you with one of our team members to meet together and discuss the bible readings that were just read at mass.

It is very helpful if you arrive to mass early so you can sit close to the front. It helps us know who is present and it’s a shorter walk for you when the priest calls you forward.

Formed.org is doing a great Advent study called Adore. Log in to Formed for the videos. If you have never sign in before, choose “sign up” then “sign up as a parishioner” and search for St Isidore Yuba City Church.
