Newsletter from Voluntary Action Reigate and Banstead
15 December 2021

Dear <<First Name>>
Welcome to our fortnightly newsletter for current and future volunteers.  In this edition:
  • Christmas campaigns
  • A wide range of volunteer roles in local organisations to choose from
  • Mental Health First Aid training and top tips for social media
  • Paid roles in local charities
This will be our last newsletter of 2021!  It's been a busy and, at times, challenging year for all of us.  Thank you to all of you for your continued support of community and voluntary organisations in Reigate & Banstead.  They couldn't do the work they do without you.

Wishing you all a very happy and healthy Christmas and New Year from all of us at VARB.
Last year, people supported by Active Prospects were unable to see friends or family due to their health needs.  This year, their Christmas campaign is aimed at giving them a Christmas that they'll remember.  Please consider donating here.
Support Transform Housing's Christmas campaign this year with contributions to their Amazon or in-kind wishlists, or a monetary donation.  Visit their website for details.
Give to families supported by Epsom & Ewell foodbank.  To donate any amount between £1 and £20, text CHRISTMASGIFT followed by your chosen amount from 1 to 20 to 70450.

😷 Reigate & Banstead Borough Council is working with the NHS to recruit Vaccination Support Volunteers for vaccine services at sites in Redhill and Reigate.  With the accelerated booster programme this Winter, there is now an increased need for volunteers. Roles include marshalling (both indoors and outdoors) and ushering patients around the site.

🎵 St Mark's Church, Tattenham Corner needs an Entertainer for its Christmas lunch being held for people who would otherwise be alone on Christmas Day.  If you dance, sing, do magic, run a quiz, have a choir, or simply have a colourful costume and would like to do something really worthwhile on Christmas Day, then get in touch.

🚗 Christmas Day Delivery Drivers are needed by the Renewed Hope to deliver a Christmas Day lunch and a small gift to people in the Redhill and Reigate area who are on their own and can't afford a Christmas lunch.

👛 The Children's Trust raises over £50,000 a year with its collection boxes.  As one of a team of Collection Box Collectors you would replace and help place collection boxes in the community, helping to promote the charity.

🏢 Watercolour Community Space will be housed in the new Carrington Place development on the Watercolour Estate.  As a new Community Interest Company, it is looking for Trustees from a variety of professional backgrounds.  No experience is necessary, who can use their expertise and enthusiasm to direct the organisation.  Trustee meetings will usually be held monthly for a maximum of 90 minutes.

🧸 Happy Baby Community in Redhill offers support to asylum-seeking and refugee women who have fled violence or traffickers and are pregnant or with a child.  They need women volunteers for Creative Activities, helping run the group for mothers, for Children's Activities to run a children's group, and as Befrienders.

💻 Active Prospects is keen to recruit Charity Shop Volunteers for their Reigate store, and an eCommerce Assistant to help run their online shop from their Reigate boutique.

🌱 Do you have an interest in how gardening can improve people's mental and physical health?  The Patchworking Garden Project is looking for an HR Trustee and an Adult Education Trustee to oversee the running of the charity.

🧑🏿‍🤝‍🧑🏾 Surrey-based sight impairment charity SeeAbility has several roles:
☕ The Brigitte Trust supports people and their families and carers who have life-limiting conditions.  It is looking for a Home Support Volunteer to offer practical and emotional support.
