Dear Members of Village:

Advent is in full swing, and the great celebrations of our Lord’s incarnation are drawing near.  I hope you are making plans to participate in the many special services that ground and define this season.

Throughout Advent, we will continue to worship every Wednesday at noon and again at 7:00PM.  Of special note are the services on the 15th and 22nd.  The evening of the 15th our Sunday School children will be leading our time of worship with their special telling of the Christmas story.  On the 22nd, we will be observing together our Nos Lamentum (Latin for “We Lament”) service.  Both services that day will follow the same order.  Not only does the Nos Lamentum service offer a wonderful chance for all of us to reflect on God’s grace at work in our lives in times of suffering, sorrow, and loss; but the service affords the ideal occasion for inviting a friend, neighbor, or family member to join you in worship.  Please take advantage of the cards printed with information about the service and share one with someone who needs to hear the message of Christ’s coming to overcome sin, death, and hell for us and to make us his own chosen people.

On Christmas Eve, we will worship at both 5:00 and 7:00.  The 7:00 service will follow the traditional “Festival of Lessons and Carols.”  Both services will contain an abundance of wonderful Christmas readings, carols, songs, and hymns, and both will end with the singing of “Silent Night” by candlelight.

On Christmas Day we celebrate the Festival of the Incarnation with a service of Holy Communion at 10:00.  It promises to be a vibrant and joyous time of worship.

The very next day, is Sunday the 26th, which is also the festival day of St. Stephen.  We will follow our usual Sunday schedule with the divine service at 8:15 and 10:45.  We’ll also have Bible class and Sunday School that morning, so plan on being part of the usual Sunday activities at Village.

Our New Year’s Eve worship will be at 5:00PM, and then on the 2nd of January we’ll again be following our usual Sunday schedule.

Please note these service times and plan to participate in the many opportunities we have to gather as God’s people and delight in his perfect grace freely given to us in his Son.
