From the Head of School

Dear Gardner School community,

As we experience our last week of school in 2021, I am taking time to reflect on the past year. It's been filled with a wide range of ups and downs, yet I am proud of what we've accomplished together. Our students are thriving, and we've continued to keep our community healthy, happy, and learning together. When students are running laps around the garden, finding praying mantis at recess, painting, playing math games, and more, mental and physical health is better for all of us. Academic successes happen every day at the Gardner School, as students work on and improve reading, writing, and math skills with engaging and thoughtful thematic learning.

It was wonderful to see many of you last week at our Celebrations of Learning, and I am looking forward to welcoming and talking to more families this week! Our students and teachers work hard, and it's exciting to share their beautiful accomplishments.

From my family to yours, I wish you a healthy and happy holiday season!
Heard on Campus
"You know how much I love all the teachers at this school? SO much!"

-Arashi, Mazama student

We appreciate you!

Sending Warm Wishes
Our school appreciates each one of our families, and we hope your vacation time and holiday season is filled with connection, joy, and relaxation!

Please check your child's backpack in the next days for a gift from our school to your family.

Re-Enrollment Updates

Looking Ahead to 22-23

We will be sending out a newsletter specifially about our re-enrollment schedule this week so families have all the information and links needed to plan ahead.

Looking to enroll a sibling for the upcoming school year? Currently enrolled families get priority enrollment, and application links will be in the admissions newsletter.

If you have any questions, reach out to Courtney Tomlinson at ctomlinson@gardnerschool.org.

We're looking forward to another wonderful year with our Gardner School community!
Welcoming Families to Campus

Celebrations of Learning are Starting!

It's been so wonderful to have families on campus for our individual class Celebrations of Learning. When students have authentic audiences for their work, they take pride in it, they prepare more for sharing, and they practice their presentation skills. Even our youngest learners get a chance to perform for their families and friends. Last week, our Tumtum, Mazama, and Loowit students welcomed their families. This week, we look forward to Klickitat, Kalama, Wy'East, and Pahto celebrations! Check the calendar below for more details on times and dates.
Schedule Reminder
No After Care Friday 12/17
Our staff is celebrating the season together on Friday afternoon, so no After Care is available this day. It will resume when we are back in session on Tuesday, January 4th.
COVID-19 Updates

When we return from the break, we will check the Washington State DOH database to update our records for children's vaccinations, specifically looking at Covid-19 vaccinations. The database is currently experiencing a backlog from the surge of 5-11 year olds getting the vaccine. Please complete this short survey so we can follow up with families if your child's records are missing in the system.

We are looking forward to sharing our vaccination rates with our community, but more importantly, this provides us with a list of which students are able to remain at school (with no symptoms) in the case of an exposure. Children who are not vaccinated will still need to quarantine if they are a close contact with a person who tests positive for Covid-19.

Testing Recommendation

If your family is planning to participate in larger indoor gatherings or travel via public transport over the break, we encourage you to complete an at-home Covid-19 test before returning to school on January 4th. If your child tests positive, or develops any symptoms, please contact health@gardnerschool.org for more support.

Check the Lost and Found before Winter Break!

The
Online Lost and Found page is up to date. Unclaimed items will be donated soon.
