Brother <<Last Name>>,

Ending 2021 On A High Note

As announced in our last email, Delta Chi Dekes around the world are celebrating the return of our chapter’s Charter from DKE International and the return to full recognition status from Cornell University. This achievement is based on the efforts and contributions of many people – undergraduates and alumni alike. It may be worth noting the many things that had to occur to receive the charter back, including:

  • The development and sustainment of a fraternal culture that meets the expectations for member recruitment, pledging, and initiation set by New York State, Cornell, and DKE International.
  • The demonstration of alumni support in the form of time, expertise, and financial support, ensuring that our chapter members and our chapter lodge were prepared to take on these responsibilities.
  • The undergraduate leadership and character that demonstrates fidelity to the University and Ithaca communities through philanthropy and engagement, and that attracts a diverse collection of new members each semester that we all can be proud to call our brothers.

Now that our DKE Charter and university recognition are back in the fold, we want to keep the momentum going. We need to continue to build bonds and nurture relationships between all of our brothers, including the undergraduates and our 700+ living alumni. We also need to continue to raise funds for critical infrastructure projects related to electrical upgrades, plumbing repairs, and various smaller but important projects to sustain our beloved chapter lodge for the decades to come. Recently completed projects include external wood painting and repair, improved landscaping, refurbishment of the grandfather clock and several aging light fixtures, and the installation of a Deke mosaic in the foyer fireplace. Hopefully, we will all be able to attend Reunion in person again starting in June 2022 so that you can see the results for yourself.

As we enter December, many of us look to finalize our charitable contributions for the year. We hope that you will consider DKE in your decisions. There are several ways to donate to the house including:

  • Contributions to the Delta Chi Association which is an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) entity, through credit card, personal check, or stock donation (particularly beneficial for those with unrealized gains).
  • Contributions to Cornell University, designating the Delta Kappa Epsilon Housing Fund #277009 as the recipient of your university donation.
  • Matching gifts from your employer either to the Delta Chi Association or Cornell are always welcome.

Detail on the many ways to contribute financially to DKE may be found on our website at the following link:

Given everything that has been accomplished, it is a year for which we can all be grateful. Wishing you and your family a happy and healthy holiday season and a wonderful New Year!
