So another year is over. Who would have imagined twelve months ago that we’d STILL be talking about Covid?
Last year we signed off for Christmas with a round up of good news in a dark year. This year we have something similar, but we’re making it a bit more personal. So here are Kevin and Andy’s highlights of 2021.
Kevin:
“On a professional level, I’ve taken advanced exams to deepen my knowledge and expertise. Financial planning is a continuous journey and it’s vital that we keep our knowledge up to date.
“My family has been incredibly important to me this year, as ever. Our oldest son Tom settled well into university and was pleased to be able to get back to having fun once the Covid restrictions were eased. Oli, our youngest, is doing well at school, won a tennis competition and has joined the hockey team.
“My wife Jen and both the boys caught Covid this year. Thankfully they recovered fully, but it’s reminded us to be incredibly grateful for our health.
“On the subject of gratitude, I’ve found the Five Minute Journal really helpful in keeping me focused on what’s important for my own wellbeing, happiness and productivity, with guided and structured exercises for every day. Let me know if you’d like to know more about this - and if you think it could help you, get in touch and we’ll get a journal to you.
“Finally, I’m incredibly grateful to all our clients for continuing to trust us with their financial lives. It’s an honour and a privilege to serve you.”
Andy:
“In a year when we’ve still had to deal with working in a pandemic, I’m proud we’ve continued to care for all of our clients without any interruptions, and have always been here to help with any issues you have.
“It’s also been great to see the Oak Four family grow with associates and specialists who work with us to deliver an excellent service.
“On a personal note, I’ve built a home office, making the whole work from home experience more productive and enjoyable. It means I can achieve just as much and see more of the family. Our sons Sam and Seth are happy and thriving at school and nursery and there has been no home schooling in 2021 - a huge improvement on 2020!
“Finally, it's been incredibly fulfilling to see the results of my hard training pay off in my bike: I’ve won four races, had over 10 podium finishes including 2nd in the Regional Championships, and triumphed in the overall Midlands League.
“What a great way to end the year!”

There's nothing like a Dimensional video to make a point clearly and succinctly. We particularly like this one, showing just how much you stand to lose if you try and time the market.

Finally, we're signing off for 2021 wishing you and your families a very happy, healthy and fun-filled Christmas and New Year. Instead of Christmas cards this year, we'll be making a donation to the Midlands Air Ambulance and Cancer Research UK.
Our office will be closed for the festive season from Wednesday 22nd December and reopen in the New year on Tuesday 4th January.
