Extended Access service - DNAs

Appointments within the Extended Access service continue to be in high, however, this appears to be accompanied by a high number of DNAs. We have made some internal changes to the way we manage DNAs, which seems to have made a difference over the last week for Hot patients. There has been one instance reported, where a patient was given the incorrect address leading to a DNA. Please be aware in standing up new hot hub capacity quickly, the same S1 module has been used for multiple locations. Therefore the modules registered address which is visible to the staff making the booking is generic, and the site name is listed as Sloan PCS Hub/Melrose hot hub. Please ensure staff give out the correct location for the hot hubs when booking.

At weekends for cold sessions we are still experiencing high DNA’s, which we believe is in part due to the nature of advanced booking. It has been reflected that often patients do not understand how to cancel the appointment if it is no longer required. To remedy this please could we ask practices remind staff booking appointments to advise the patients to call PCS on 0114 322 3100 if they can no longer attend.

Request for clinical input – Digital Joint Venture

Many thanks to those that have volunteered to be involved in the Digital Joint Venture Reference Group.  As we shape the detail on how the group will input to the initiative, we have identified that we would really benefit from additional clinical input.

If you are a GP or a Nurse and have an interest in being involved, we would very much appreciate your input.  We will remain flexible on when you are able to be involved, and will keep time commitment for meetings to an absolute minimum.  If you are a GP or a Nurse, and happy to have an involvement, please enter your details via the button below.  Many Thanks

City Wide Hub Usage Report

We have committed to sharing with you utilisation data for the hubs across the city. Variation in utilisation happens for a range of reasons and in some places offers the opportunity for improvement and others is entirely right. We’re keen to work with practices and networks to ensure optimal utilisation and will be developing this approach further during 2022. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us via pcs.enquiries@nhs.net.
