We are so thankful for you and your support this past year as the Network of Evangelicals for the Middle East (NEME) hosted events, traveled, and continued the work of peace and justice. We wanted to take just a few minutes at year-end to share with you the highlights of what we were up to in 2021:

In 2021, the Network of Evangelicals for the Middle East (NEME), hosted 8 virtual events on various topics, including annexation, Christian Zionism and Christian Nationalism, racial injustice and systematic oppression, and interviews with authors, theologians, and Palestinians. We look forward to hosting more events like this in the next year. All previous events can be viewed here: https://neme.network/resources/
In addition, we were able to resume in-person events including the NEME fall tour with Dr. Bruce Fisk (pictured below) and Rev. Dr. Mae Elise Cannon speaking at a NEME event in partnership with the Dream Center in Colorado Springs on October 19, 2021. We are excited about our growing relationship of churches who are committed to eradicating hatred and pursuing love. The audience was very moved as we watched “The Present” together and discussed current realities affecting Palestinians.

We are so grateful for all of the wonderful hosts who welcomed Dr. Bruce Fisk into their classrooms, meetings, and homes during our first-ever NEME Speaking Tour in November. Bruce met with divinity school students at Duke University, seminary students at Calvin, a group of justice-minded folks at Kairos West Michigan, and many theologians, academics, and evangelical leaders at the Evangelical Theological Society gathering and the Society of Biblical Literature/American Academy of Religion annual meeting in Texas. We hope that this is the first of many similar opportunities to join you in conversation.

In 2021, NEME's Senior Research Fellow, Dr. Bruce Fisk, worked on updating a small-group curriculum to be used by evangelical groups, including churches, colleges & universities, and seminaries. He developed 4 new units based on the current curriculum and shared them with a group of content reviewers, which included pastors, seminary professors, and theologians. We anticipate their feedback and look forward to continuing the updating process.

CMEP’s Executive Director, Rev. Dr. Mae Elise Cannon, was a guest lecturer on behalf of NEME at the evangelical Fuller Theological Seminary where she spoke for 90 minutes on how the Israeli/Palestinian conflict and constructive engagement and response to human rights abuses is necessary for U.S. Christian witness. There were more than 80 students present including some from traditional evangelical backgrounds, nonetheless the response of students and the professor (Dr. Soong-Chan Rah) was overwhelmingly positive.
