House Passes Legislation to Stop PAYGO Cuts for 2022
S. 610 Also Delays Reimplementation of 2% Sequester Cuts

Last night, the House of Representatives passed the Protecting Medicare and American Farmers from Sequester Cuts Act (S. 610), legislation to keep across-the-board 4% PAYGO cuts to Medicare reimbursement from taking effect in 2022.

The legislation also extends the pause on 2% sequestration cuts through March 2022, and then re-implements those cuts at a 1% level from April 1, 2022 to June 30, 2022 – then returning to a full 2% reduction starting July 2022.  To offset this extended deferral, the legislation increases the sequestration rate in 2031.

The bill now moves to the Senate for consideration.  Thanks to the large number of HME stakeholders who have reached out directly to your legislators to rein in these cuts or sent a message through our Action Center, which has generated more than 6,500 letters to the Hill on the issue.
