On the latest episode of Military in Hawaii, CDR Dave Haile, executive officer of the USS Daniel Inouye (DDG 118), and Jack Shriver, senior vice president of the Navy League, spoke with host Jay Fidell about the newest guided missile destroyer, DDG 118. Haile shared what makes the ship unique and the significance of its namesake. DDG 118 is named after the Honorable Daniel K. Inouye, U.S. Senator (Sep. 7, 1924 – Dec. 17, 2012).
