In 2021, your support helped us fight for a more just and equal Jerusalem with an agreed political future.
This year, Ir Amim succeeded to:
- Uncover discrimination against Palestinians in a new subsidized housing project in Givat Hamatos, slated to become the first new settlement in East Jerusalem in over two decades. In an unprecedented result of our petition, the state was compelled to open up subsidized housing both in Givat Hamatos and throughout Israel for non-citizen permanent residents, which includes East Jerusalem Palestinians.
- Freeze construction of a Yemenite Jewish Heritage Center planned for the home of an evicted Palestinian family in Batan al-Hawa, Silwan.
- Bring over 3,600 Israelis on study tours of East Jerusalem to share the political complexities and realities of life in the city.
In 2021, dozens of Ir Amim virtual events, seminars, and conferences reached thousands of participants. We successfully placed East Jerusalem on the public agenda.
In December alone, Ir Amim hosted 3 virtual events throughout our crowdfunding campaign attended by over 300 individuals:
Our work is far from over.
Both our successes and the current reality in East Jerusalem make it clear how critical Ir Amim’s work is to safeguarding Palestinian rights in the city and advancing conditions for a sustainable and agreed political future.
Make your end-of-year gift today and continue to support Jerusalem as the present home and future capital of both people.
