Hello <<First Name>>,
Here is your monthly update on what I’m creating and exploring!

🌞 What's new

Cheers from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria & Happy holidays, wherever you are!

How are you wrapping up your year? I’ll share how I do it in a second, but before that, I have an announcement to make:

Starting from next month, the newsletter has a new name. Drumroll please..

🥁 trrrrrrrrrrrrrrr… 💥

The name is Trailblazing.

Why? For me Trailblazing means welcoming new ideas to face the unknown, and build new paths into the future. Trailblazing is about figuring life out, one step at a time. That’s what we do here.
How do you like it? Let me know.

Anyway, as I was saying, to wrap up the year I do two exercises:
  • Insights & Vision recap
  • The photo Mandala
Insights & Vision recap (📝 + 🤳🏼 = 🧭)
Throughout the year I regularly journal (in Notion) and take video-selfies to share my thoughts and feelings - anything relevant I want to remember. At the end of the year, I go through them all and take notes of the most significant insights and things I want to work on.

Why is this important? We tend to forget how we felt, or how we wanted to change. We move on and end up making the same mistakes, being stuck in the same situations. This exercise helps you remember, and holds you accountable to steer your life in the direction you desire.

The photo Mandala (📸² = 😌)
The second exercise is simply a photo collage (but mandala sounds cooler!). I pick pictures of the best and most important moments of the year, I love capturing them all in one frame (I use the app miro.) It’s a great gratitude exercise too.

📅 Would you schedule weekly meetings with your partner to ‘work’ on your relationship?
Ramit Sethi does. He sits with his spouse to initiate important conversations. I find his point of view thought-provoking and inspiring. I don't believe in the “love is enough” narrative.

⌛ You're (probably) a billionaire but you don't know it.
A shocking perspective: a million seconds is 11 days, a billion seconds is 31 years. Hopefully, you can consider yourself a time billionaire. But you can’t know for sure. What’s certain is that your time capital drops every day. Are you spending it wisely?

👌 Top picks

🎬 Remember the 12 Thai kids who got trapped in a cave because it got flooded? Eventually, they were saved. But the story of how that happened is absolutely mad. The documovie The Rescue tells it masterfully. (Thanks Stax)

🎬 Tear Along the Dotted Line is a Netflix mini-series by Italian comic book writer Zerocalcare. It’s hilarious and deep at the same time. I’m sure you will relate to some of the character's experiences (I certainly share his thoughts on aircon #@!!).

💭 Your thoughts are bubbles. A beautiful analogy by Jon Kabat-Zinn (Thanks Giulia)

✍🏼 Wanna learn how to draw to sell? Aaron Aalto has a great free course about it.

🏆 Finally, this should be your only purpose for 2022. ;)

That’s a wrap folks.

Keep going,
Dario
