In this second year of the pandemic, we learned yet again that community is not dictated by geographic proximity. Ring of Keys uplifted, amplified, and connected hundreds of Keys this year. We are transforming the face of musical theatre through community building and connections. Over the past two years, our numbers have skyrocketed and shown that we can be together at a distance. On a personal note, as 2021 wrapped up, I was honored to be named the new Executive Director of such an important organization, and I look forward to leading Ring of Keys into a new year of exciting programs, showcasing our collective and individual talents, and having the opportunity to continue to connect and collaborate. Here's to a great 2022!

Aislinn Frantz (she/her)
Executive Director
Our virtual programming continued in 2021, with Keys participating in 6 workshops and 2 panels.
You love to see it: We're now 600+ Keys strong in over 40 cities throughout the US, England, and Canada.
Some of our most talented Keys took center stage in March's digital KeyFest showcase, which can still be streamed on YouTube!
In September 2021, Ring of Keys was officially classified a 501(c)3 organization, giving us new opportunities for funding and messaging.
We continued to expand partnerships with other organizations across the industry, including Backstage, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, and Casting Society of America.
On December 6, Aislinn Frantz began her tenure as the new Executive Director of Ring of Keys. Following a 5-month search process with a search committee and consultancy from Forge NYC, we were thrilled to welcome Aislinn to the team.
We Introduced the Keyship-- a way for Keys to give back to Ring of Keys through a recurring donation. Keyships and all donations are integral in allowing Ring of Keys to continue to serve the community.
In addition to the BIPOC committee established in 2020, we added a TGNC committee to help steer Ring of Keys in the most inclusive direction and ensure we're serving our TGNC Keys.
Our Queering the Canon series will return in early 2022, with three concerts featuring the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, Stephen Sondheim, and Kander & Ebb alongside new songs by Keys!Keep an eye out for more details about dates, creative teams, performers, and more!
  • Keys built relationships at every level: procured agents through RoK, found new artistic collaborators because of RoK, and were hired for jobs through our RoK Directory
  • We received grants from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council and NYC Pride for the Queering the Canon series
  • Founding Executive Director Andrea Prestinario announced her resignation in July. She will remain on the Board of Directors
  • Our Spring Town Hall inspired the creation of our TGNC Committee and renewed commitments to our TGNC community
  • Continued strategic planning with Forge NYC, in addition to their assistance with the Executive Director search
  • In June, we partnered with Cabaret on the Couch to highlight performances by Keys.
  • Uplifted, amplified, and spotlighted HUNDREDS of Keys (!!!)
Thank you so much to all of our Keys and those who have supported us this year — we couldn't have done it without you, and can't wait to see what 2022 has in store for Ring of Keys. Happy New Year!
