Dear <<First Name>>,

Greetings and warmest wishes from Mountain Friends Camp! As we move towards the new year, and through the darkest and coldest nights for those of us in winter climates, I’m treasuring memories and connections from Mountain Friends Camp and looking towards the coming summer with hope.

2021 was a year like no other for all of us, this time last year we were uncertain and apprehensive about a return to in-person camp. I’m so glad we decided to take that chance, and proud of all of our campers and staff who made our 2021 session an amazing experience. We overcame challenges in making camp possible, with the ever changing public health news and guidelines, and had a great time living and playing outdoors, connecting over shared meals, chores and songs, and the unique Quaker spirit of Mountain Friends Camp.

This year, we’re also facing unknowns from the pandemic, and financial sustainability. We know it won’t be easy to get ready for this summer, but it’ll be worth it for the connection and friendships we create at camp. With the help of our friends and wider camp community, I’m confident Mountain Friends Camp will be back at Collins Lake Ranch in 2022 for a wonderful summer. Registration is planned to open in January. See dates below!

Wishing you and your loved ones peace, happiness, and good health for the new year!

Collins Lake Ranch News

Our hosts at Collins Lake Ranch send their greetings and are looking forward to MFC returning this summer. Steve replaced our tarp and bucket “Lake Loo” system with a real outhouse, and is working on a new yurt for 2022! They have also filled a new position at the ranch, a maintenance person to help keep everything in good repair.

Thanks to our Donors!Join us in wishing Heather Bertram a happy birthday! She asks friends and loved ones to consider a donation to Mountain Friends Camp as a gift this year, Heather’s Facebook friends can give through her page or note it’s for Heather on checks or online donations!
Your donations are needed now more than ever to make camp possible this year! Visit https://mountainfriendscamp.org/donate, or send checks to Mountain Friends Camp at 2455 N Race St, Denver, CO 80205.

Thanks to Dave Wells, for organizing and running a marathon fundraiser for the Brianna Wells Campership fund for Mountain Friends Camp! Dave ran the Tucson marathon early in December in loving memory of his daughter Brianna who was a camper in our first few years of MFC, and for camperships so more young people can find a supportive community at camp.

Staff: Applications aren’t open yet, but now is a great time to consider coming to work at Mountain Friends Camp this summer or encouraging someone you know to join us! We’ll need a hardworking, caring and creative crew of counselors/program staff, cooks, lifeguards, leadership staff and a medic (or two!) to make the magic happen this summer. Could it be you?
Lastly, a personal note. I appreciate our board, and want to lift up both outgoing President Bonny Moss and our interim president and long time leader Beverley Weiler for all your support and wisdom over the years! This year especially, as we navigated summer camp in times of pandemic, and in the fall as Beverley and other board members covered for me as I went on maternity leave. We welcomed baby Forest Kanghai Winston Ebi to the family in September, and thank everyone for your love and well wishes.
