Leeds Autism AIM Monthly Update: January 2022

Hello and welcome to our latest monthly newsletter! In this update from Leeds Autism AIM, part of The Advonet Group, we have news on:
  • Our monthly timetable of online groups
  • Two Coproduction Groups taking place this month
  • Self-Advocacy group sessions now online
  • Discussion themes for our Women-Aligned Group
Online Groups timetable: January 2022
We're holding a Peer Support Group session on the 4th and 18th from 6pm-7pm. Our monthly Women-Aligned Group is on the 11th from 5:30pm-6:30pm. 
After a month away, our Gaming Group will be back on our Discord server on the 25th from 5pm-6pm. We're also holding two Coproduction Group sessions on the 13th and 27th; both are from 5:30pm-7pm.

Happy New Year from the AIM team!
The Leeds Autism AIM team wishes all of you a very happy new year! In 2022, we will resume our mentoring and one-to-one peer support services, enabled by funding from the National Lottery Community Fund for three years.
We will also be publishing new resources from our Autism Health Access Project, as well as improving our Discord server and continuing our other existing work. 2022 promises to be a big year for our project!
Two Coproduction Groups on this month
This month, we are hosting two Coproduction Group sessions on Zoom. The first is on Thursday 13th January and is about new resources for our Autism Health Access Project. The second is on Thursday 27th January and will focus on what improvements you would like to make to our Discord server.
Both groups run from 5:30pm-7pm and are for autistic adults in the Leeds area. Please click below to find out how you can get involved.

Advonet Group's Self-Advocacy sessions moving online
The Advonet Group's scheduled self-advocacy group sessions for January will now take place online instead of in-person. The first group of the New Year is on Tuesday 18th January and will help participants build skills to speak up for themselves and their rights. Our Autism Health Access Project, working with the Leeds Student Medical Practice and The Light Surgery Primary Care Network, is still open to work with autistic adults registered with or living near either surgery.
The project team are working on new resources on communicating healthcare needs. These will be available soon. For more info on how the project can help you, please click here.
Women-Aligned Group: Confirmed themed discussions for 2022
Our autistic-led Women-Aligned Group have set themes for some of their group sessions happening later this year. Themed discussions will run every two months. In February, the group will talk about things they find difficult/tackling jobs they hate. In April, the topic is hobbies and interests.

Capabilities for Autism Peer Support Workers: Online workshops
A series of free online workshops for autism peer support workers are being held this month. Funded by Health Education England, they are open to autistic people who have had peer support or delivered it.

Live Well Leeds' online groups for January
Live Well Leeds, a mental health service, have details of their regular groups for January and beyond. They are open to adults in the Leeds area aged 18 and over with mild to moderate mental health needs.

Grab a Jab: Vaccine walk-in centres in Leeds
Leeds NHS Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) are publishing information about walk-in vaccination centres open in Leeds for anyone who needs a COVID-19 jab. Today, there is one at Elland Road, with others due to open at later dates.
