2. Advocate for Healthy Eating Education
This year our team presented an abstract and research poster at The Food and Nutrition Conference and Exposition to advocate for better food education and involve more key stakeholders in this mission.
We also published documents showing how Wa-Shokuiku lessons are aligned with many national and state interdisciplinary standards, including Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards. This allows for seamless integration of nutrition and food eduction into content areas that students are studying in their regular classrooms. This method can improve our children’s health without sacrificing classroom time for other subjects.
3. Increase Reach to Students
We reached a total of 3,000 students in 2021 through 171 virtual/in-person Wa-Shokuiku classes and on-demand programs. Since the launch in 2017, we have provided our food education program to roughly 10,000 students!
