May your travel dreams be merry and bright!

A strange thing happened this past year…  we got to know ourselves a little better. Even more than ever, we reflected on what we want out of this life. Travel is of course something… but it goes much deeper than that.

As we move towards a brighter year ahead, I believe that we all want to reconnect with each other and the world around us in a more meaningful way. We want to make sure our daily lives our filled with purpose and that the legacy we leave behind, whether that be in our own circles or on a larger global scale, is relevant.

The travel industry has been hit hard by recent global events, but that has not changed our resolve to continue on the path we have chosen. This year we completed several tours and it was a pleasure to get back (albeit briefly) to travelling again. But that was just a “taster” of the year to come.

I am so grateful to my team in Canada and Ukraine for their patience and their dedication to Cobblestone, and their belief in offering amazing travel experiences to Eastern Europe. And equally grateful to our community of dedicated Cobblestone travellers who have supported us and believed in us and what we do.

On behalf of myself and the entire Cobblestone Family, I want to wish you a beautiful Christmas and a Happy New Year. And to many more to come!

May your travel dreams be merry and bright!

One of the joys of the winter markets in Ukraine is the mulled wine or "глінтвейн" you can sample at every stall...
It is a hot, spicy, sweet wine which warms you up, and fills you with holiday cheer.....

Check out Taras’ super-simple mulled wine recipe below!
You can make it in a pot on the stove, or keep it warm in a slow cooker.
Ingredients:
  • 1 litre of cheap wine, dry or semi-sweet (as to your preference)
  • 1 orange
  • 1 lemon
  • 1-2 tbsp of honey
  • 2-3 cinnamon sticks
  • Allspice and cloves to taste
Directions:
  1. Slice lemon and orange, and place into pot.
  2. Add the wine
  3. Add spices
  4. Turn up to high; once the wine is hot and cooking (but not boiling), turn down to warm/low. Let simmer for 5-10 mins.
  5. Add honey to taste.
Serve & Enjoy!
