In sadness we share the news that the Rev. Michael Chamness died on Friday, December 17th, 2021.

A former member of the Desert Southwest Conference, Rev. Chamness was admitted on probation in 1990 and was appointed to attend school. He attended Iliff School of Theology and in 1991, he served as an associate at Trinity UMC in Las Vegas, NV, before becoming a member in full connection in 1993. He continued in service in 1995 at Sunrise Mountain UMC in Las Vegas, NV and at Sedona UMC in Sedona, AZ in 1997. He served and eventually transferred his membership to the (then) Rocky Mountain Conference and most recently served at Shepherd of the Hills UMC in St. George, UT. He is survived by his wife, Anne and their two children.

Rev. Chamness grew up in the San Diego area, enjoying mountaineering, golf, and the community of faith at Escondido First United Methodist Church. In high school he lettered in tennis, water polo, and baseball, and immediately following graduation he traveled to the Northwest Territories in Canada to do missionary work.

A service celebrating Rev. Chamness' life will be held on Wednesday, December 29th at 2:00 pm at Shepherd of the Hills UMC, 920 W. Tonaquint Drive, St. George, UT 84770.
