December 2021
NEWSLETTER

News. Opportunities. Shows. People.

"The word theater comes from the Greeks. It means the seeing place. It is the place people come to see the truth about life and the social situation. The theater is a spiritual and social x-ray of its time."

Stella Adler, 'New York Times', December 1992

Hello,

Welcome to the December 2021 edition of the Theatre Directors Scotland newsletter, the last of the year!

A year of ever changing conditions has meant another challenging year for theatre, but here's hoping 2022 will get back on track.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Twisted Fire Starter

Postponed from November to February 2022:
Dates: 8th-10th November

Time: Doors @ 18.45pm show starts @ 7.30pm

Venue: The Old Hairdressers, Glasgow

(From Glasgow Central, exit onto Hope Street, venue is on the right on Renfield Lane)

Price: £8.50

Set in a sleepy town somewhere in Fife, a climate activist group sits arguing over how to improve things without taking any action – until a stranger comes to town...

Twisted Fire Starter raises themes of environmental action and slacktivism; while asking the question of “How far would you go to stand up for what you believe?”

Premiered in Blackfriars in February 2020, the show has been described by previous audiences as 'Hysterical' and 'Handles real, relevant topics with humour and wit.' Twisted bursts back onto the stage with a perfect blend of comedy, savagery, viciousness and tragedy.

Written by Jamie Cowan, a Leith based playwright and performer. Jamie is an alumni of Traverse Young Writers and has also had previous work featured in Traverse Breakfast Plays 2020 (Contemporary Political Ethics (Or How to Cheat))

The run time for this show will be approximately 1 hour
