CAPTURING THE WRITER'S LIFESTYLE

ISSUE NO. 19 ○ DEC 22, 2021
Hi friends,

In an earlier newsletter, I wrote about the desire I had to realign my heart and my brain, and how I felt off track while on autopilot this year. The response I received from a few readers was comforting: basically, I wasn’t alone, and many other people were feeling the same way, too.

It’s been almost two months since that newsletter, and in that time I did a lot of reflecting. It led to my decision to rebrand my website, slow down on blogging, and spend more time working on my book. I’ve felt worlds better ever since, to say the least. I realized I was mostly afraid of disappointing others, so much so that I neglected my own needs and desires. Now, I’ve made more time for the things that are the most important to me.

One friend in particular wrote something to me that stuck: “So happy for you. Not everyone is introspective.” And he is right; it isn’t easy being introspective because it often leads to change, and many people are uncomfortable with change, especially at first. Especially me. However afraid of change I was at the time, I was more afraid of things staying the same. After taking time to really reflect on why I wasn’t feeling like myself, I now feel more like me than ever. And if this nightmare of a year was good for anything, at least it was good for that.

Whether you had a good year or a rough one, I’m sure there were moments that made you smile, times when you felt the most like yourself, either alone or with others. In these last few days of 2021, I hope you’ll reflect not only on the things you have lost, but what you have gained—because, at the end of the day, that’s what’s going to carry you through.

I’ll see you all in 2022.

Megan

this week I loved...

1. Spider-Man: No Way Home. Because duh.

2. The gyroids in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I'm getting closer to completing my collection!

3. The series finale of PEN15. It's such a heartwarming, relatable show and I will miss it!

4. All of the 2022 Bullet Journal setups on YouTube. Too many to name. They all just make me so happy.
