Wishing you the very best this Holiday Season!!!

Another year has passed and I’m sure most of us can all agree that again it’s been different! For us, it is becoming the new normal and heartbreaking...

I lost Montana last January due to a broken heart. Milo passed away from cancer on September 16th. Tessa started having seizures the day before Milo passed away so I started her on CBD oil and Gabapentin, which really seemed to help. However, Tessa passed away on October 6th at 6:45pm after having a massive heart attack. Personally I think it was the stress of losing Milo.

Early mid-year Hendrix received a gift of a new quad wheelchair and was just getting the hang of it when he lost his besties, Milo and Tessa. Then he started to give up. He stopped eating, taking his meds, and fought me on everything I was trying to do to help him. After 5 days of going without food and his meds, he started bleeding. There was blood in his urine, stool, and he was starting to throw it up. He was dropping weight like crazy!

I was so upset I started to yell at him! If he was going to give up, then so was I and I told him the last thing I was going to do for him was dig a hole! I'm so glad he knows what I'm saying! From that point on, he let me do what I do best. He went from being tube fed to eating on his own. He is now about 95% back to his old self. I'm not sure how long it will last but right now I'm so happy with what I got! I never thought I was going to say this again but on November 9th he made it to his 14th birthday! So... Happy 14th Birthday Hendrix!

I know I've said this time and time again, that all these animals are extremely bonded! It's the love they have for each other, is what kept them going all these years. When it gets taken away, sometimes the heartbreak is just too much.

Happy has cancer in her mouth, which seems to bother me more than her. She just turned 17 in September and is still holding her own. As for the rest of the kids, they’re doing okay, considering what life is always throwing at them.

UPDATE:

Since I wrote this letter... Happy lost her battle to cancer on December 10th.  She went peacefully at home with her family.

We’re all living day to day, learning not to sweat the small stuff, and enjoying the time we have. Remember, just because animals can’t talk like we do, doesn’t mean they don’t feel or love. They will tell you what you need to know… We just need to open our hearts and listen!

For all of you that have helped support these babies throughout their lives... THANK YOU!!!

You made a difference!
