Family Spotlight featuring the Sanchezs!

Pictured is Mr. Sanchez and his daughter in their new home while receiving food from our pantry and a special holiday gift of a smart TV from one of our staff.
Mr. Sanchez began his journey at Family Promise working closely with case manager Georgette. Georgette helped him quickly secure a beautiful 2 bedroom home with all new appliances, a big back yard, and located in a safe neighborhood.
"Family Promise is exactly that, they treated me like family, and kept all of their promises." says Mr. Sanchez. “Georgette was one of the first people who truly stuck to her promise of helping me find housing.”
Our Case Managers work hard to build report and partnerships with local landlords while educating them on our programs and ways we provide financial and life skill assistance. The landlords we work with go out of their way to create affordable housing opportunities to help others who are down on their luck. Mr. Sanchez’s landlord opted to provide all new appliances for them and is one of many that advocate for our cause and work to give others a second chance.
His Case Manager Georgette will continue to provide hands on support in the year to come as he adjusts and transitions into life in his new home. Mr. Sanchez was also one of our families that received a full thanksgiving meal and holiday gifts thanks to one of our holiday partners at St Mary’s of the Assumption.
Thanks to Mr. Sanchez's determination, and Georgette’s hands on work of building report and trust with local landlords, he was able to secure safe and comfortable housing for him and his daughter.
We are beyond grateful for our supporters who provide the financial support to continue offering our services and our community partners who go the extra mile to help us quickly rehouse those in need.

National Rent Increases
Delaware YOY rent increased by 50% from 2020 to 2021

"Nationwide rent prices for both one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments have increased significantly year-over-year at 21.3 percent and 16.7 percent, respectively.

After a brief lull in two-bedroom prices month-over-month, one- and two-bedroom rents increased slightly compared to October.

• 1-BR: $1,680 (+0.6 percent from prior month / +21.3 percent year-over-year)
• 2-BR: $1,958 (+0.4 percent from prior month / +16.7 percent year-over-year)

State to state, rent prices are up compared to this time last year. All states have seen two-bedroom rents increase in that time, and one-bedroom rents have risen in every state except Nebraska, which dipped 2 percent.

• 1-BR: 97.8 percent of states are up and 2 percent of states are down
• 2-BR: 100 percent of states are up and none are down "
