AmsCIS newsletter #3       !!! Best viewed in your browser
During the APH Spring week in April this year, the new Amsterdam Center for Implementation Science – AmsCIS - was launched. Goal: providing APH researchers with better knowledge, skills and tools to support translation of research into practice and policy.

During the year, we have sought to address some of your implementation questions and challenges head-on, by organizing a knowledge-transfer network meeting and a ‘Yes, We Can!’ session, where together with peers and experts in the field of implementation research, hands-on implementation challenges of APH-researchers were discussed. We also launched the AmsCIS Knowledge Hub, where you can find relevant resources for all your implementation questions.

In 2022, innovative, connecting and informative events await to further strengthen and stimulate implementation research, policy and practice within APH. We will kick-off the year by participating in the ‘Week van de Implementatie’ of the Nederlands Implementatie Collectief from January 24-28. Stay tuned for other upcoming news and events.

Thank you to all of you who showed interest and participated! See you in 2022!

We wish you a healthy, happy and joyful holiday season and warm wishes for the new year!

YES WE CAN! - SESSION JANUARY 27

During the 'Week van de Implementatie', we organize a new Yes We Can! - Session on Thursday January 27, 09:30-10:30.

In this session, researchers are given a platform to discuss and solve each other's implementation problems and challenges, and get inspired by each other's ideas and solutions.

During the session, one or two pre-selected challenges will be analysed with the attending implementation experts and peers. We already selected one interesting challenge on scaling-up, but we do have one spot left! So do you have an implementation problem or challenge that you want to discuss with fellow implementation peers and experts? Let us know: aph.amscis@amsterdamumc.nl.

RECAP YES WE CAN!  - SESSION OCTOBER
In October, our first Yes We Can! - session took place. We look back at an interesting, highly interactive session in which the expertise and ingenuity of the participants brought out of the box solutions.

In the session, two APH researchers consulted the crowd with their challenges. Annicka van der Plas shared her challenge about health professionals' adherence to a palliative care initiative (PaTz). Esther Bisschops consulted the group regarding disseminating the MultiDisciplinary Expertise Team method to reduce involuntary care in complex long-term care organisations.

The attending implementation experts and peers provided practical solutions, often based on their own experiences. A few examples:
  1. Focus on the core goals and principles of your innovation when first trying to implement it.
  2. Try to understand the perspective of the innovation participant of whom you want to see change: what's in it for them?
  3. Build competitive elements into your strategies
  4. Involve change ambassadors
  5. Create a toolkit that organizations can use to spark change.
The fresh outsider perspective and the solutions provided based on similar projects were much appreciated. We look forward to a new Yes We Can! - session on January 27!
SURVEY: KNOWLEDGE GAPS IN IMPLEMENTATION
(Dutch researchers only)
What problems do you encounter while implementing in healthcare?

The Netherlands Implementation Collective (NIC) maps implementation problems, on behalf of ZonMw, as part of the development of an implementation research agenda. This research agenda is part of a larger exploration for an implementation knowledge program within ZonMw.

We need your input and therefore ask you to provide a maximum of 10 knowledge gaps that you experience when implementing innovations, interventions, guidelines etc. within the context in which you work. As an APH researcher you have the opportunity to use this survey to submit your knowledge gaps that may subsequently be investigated in this new implementation knowledge program.

The survey can be found here. Participation will take you 5-15 minutes.

If you have any questions, please contact the researchers, Femke van Nassau (f.vannassau@amsterdamumc.nl) or Anouk Driessen (a.driessen@amsterdamumc.nl).

Thank you very much for taking the time to participate!
