Assistive Technology for Individuals with Visual Impairment

According to WHO statistics in 2020, there are approximately 253 million visually impaired people worldwide, including 36 million blind individuals. In this online edition of Café des Sciences, we will hear from an expert at biped.ai - a Swiss startup that is working on the world’s first AI copilot for blind and visually impaired persons, helping its users to navigate their surroundings and a researcher from the Future Laboratory at Tsinghua University working on developing a graphical tactile display for the blind. ➠ Learn more and register

The 30th Cafe des Sciences zoomed in on the topic of green mobility, and we were pleased to be joined by speakers from two Swiss companies devoted to green mobility and sustainable transportation: Stephan Guggisberg, Head Outpost of Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) in Shanghai; and Anne Mandron, Global Business Development Director of STOR-H. They shared the topic of green mobility and Swiss companies’ solutions of achieving zero carbon transport.

In 2020, the Pro Helvetia and the Swiss Polar Institute (SPI) launched the pilot program of PolARTS, a joint initiative to stimulate the exchange and foster the collaboration between art and science. We were delighted to welcome Yujie Wu, CEO of ShadeMe at our Shanghai office, who just arrived in China to join the Innosuisse China Camp, explore China market and seek cooperation in China.
