Christmas and new year service arrangements

CIVIC CENTRE CUSTOMER SERVICE
The Civic Centre will be closed from 4pm Friday 24 December until 8.30 am Tuesday 4 January 2022. 
For urgent Council matters during this period please contact 5382 9777 or enter an online service request.

KERBSIDE WASTE COLLECTIONS
Collection services will be as normal throughout the festive period.

KENNY ROAD TRANSFER STATION AND DOOEN LANDFILL
Open every day except for Christmas Day.  Operating hours are 10am to 2pm on public holidays.

LOCAL LAWS – COMMUNITY SAFETY UNIT
Available for urgent domestic animal matters throughout the holiday period.
Call 53 82977 or lodge an online service request.

HORSHAM TOWN HALL AND VISITOR INFORMATION SERVICES
Open every day except for Christmas Day.  
Operating hours are 10am to 4pm.

HORSHAM AQUATIC CENTRE
Open every day except for Christmas Day.  Operating hours are 8am to 6pm on public holidays.

LIBRARY
Closes at 3pm Friday 24 December and re-opens at 9am on Tuesday 4 January.

HORSHAM REGIONAL LIVESTOCK EXCHANGE
First market day for 2022 is Wednesday 12 January. 

KALKEE ROAD CHILDREN’S AND COMMUNITY HUB
The Hub building closes 3pm Friday 24 December and reopens 9am Tuesday 4 January.
The Maternal and Child Health Service is closed December 25, 26, 27.
December 28, 29: New baby service only - strictly appointment only.
The Hub is closed on December 30, 31 and January 1, 2 and 3.

HORSHAM REGIONAL ART GALLERY
Open every day except for Christmas Day.  Operating hours are 10am to 4pm.

State funding for Horsham youth programs

Horsham Rural City Council has successfully applied for Victorian Government funding to deliver youth programs for the next two years.

A total of $241,500 will go towards the roll out of both the FReeZA and Engage! initiatives in Horsham.

Youth Services Planning and Engagement Officer Louise Barnett said the FReeZA funding would help revive the passion in young people in our area for music, culture and recreation.

Cr Penny Flynn: A well-earned break

Christmas can be an exciting time of the year for many but it can also be lonely and isolating.

For many it is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. For others it is an opportunity to come together or take the time to have a break.  

Our support agencies such as the Christian Emergency Food Centre, St Vincent de Paul and the Salvation Army have worked tirelessly this year within the constraints of COVID restrictions to assist those in our community and beyond to ensure they have the food and support they need.

Town Hall's bumper new year shows

Horsham Town Hall is set to hit the ground running in 2022 with a suite of headline performances.

Creative Services and Events Lead Shana Miatke said there was a terrific mix of events that would appeal to a variety of people.

“We have a line-up that includes circus, theatre, music, comedy and dance,” she said.

2022 headline performances:

  • Top Australian comedian Issac Butterfield
  • Jon Stevens – The Noiseworks & INXS Collection Tour
  • 1927 – ARIA award winners

2022 Performance Schedule

Horsham to host Tennis Victoria’s largest regional team event

Horsham will host Tennis Victoria’s largest Regional Team Event in 2022 - The Inter-Regional Country Championships. 

Eleven country regions across Victoria and over 220 players are expected to compete in both team and individual events.

The 66th annual tournament will be held across three days of competition from January 7 to 9 at the Horsham Lawn Tennis Club.

The event will be complemented by a social atmosphere on the Saturday night including food trucks and live music in Horsham.

Sunnyside Park Landscape Plan

The Sunnyside Park Plan has been developed in close partnership with the community and organisations that call Sunnyside Park home. The Draft Plans are now available for comment.
After reviewing the community’s feedback, the Community Reference Group will develop a final draft landscape plan.

Council and Haven’s Community Reference Group have been developing a plan for the Haven Recreation Reserve since May 2021.
