2022: A Year of Integrating through the Heart

The Lovers

In 2021 we worked with the Hierophant who is the keeper and teacher of tradition, the way we do things, the way we live. She is religion, family unit, correctness. She is self-examination. In 2021 she was upside down and turned out and instead asked us to look beyond what is handed to us as tradition and to look even further back. She asked us to question what we think we know as correctness and match it to our true values. This was, of course, on a personal level, as we weren’t completely out of the global pandemic….we still aren’t, but as we share experiences more closely than ever in these last two years, we also share a desire to collectively question. It has not been comfortable. We may not have much ground beneath us, so the Lovers provides some relief or at least a pathway to safety.
To come into a Lovers year feels like it may be lighter and I hope it will be. The work of the Lovers is to first clear the heart space so that we can see things clearly, without judgement or bitterness. The Lovers year asks us to integrate the parts of us we don’t like, some call it the Shadow and bring love to all parts of ourselves. On a collective level, we’ve been through hell and with all the things that I won’t remind you of, it doesn’t feel all too hopeful, but what if? We cannot control much on a big scale but we can tend to our hearts and we can tend to each other's hearts. We can help make things a bit lighter for each other. We can do the work of clearing and opening our hearts so that we can have compassion in even the hardest of moments.

You are ending a cycle of work this year, a project complete and you are nearing fulfillment. Don’t get distracted now! Keep going. You are so close. The biggest distraction will be a new idea or opportunity. Don’t get fooled, keep on task. You are in a position to help others, maybe more than ever. You are very stable and not by accident. You have worked to gain this stability. As you are careful with your time and making sure that you are doing what you set out to do, don’t be stingy either. If someone asks you for help, filter their request through your heart and help if you can. This is a good year for learning generosity of all kinds with boundaries.

You are approaching a year of working hard on what you desire in a very practical, hands on way. Let this crafting, whatever it may be, be your meditation. Sometimes we have years where our spirituality is grounded through our hands. This is that year for you. Through the process you will declutter, physically sure, but also your heart. By committing to what YOU set out to do, you will clear some wounds. Sure it’s not meditating on a mountain in silence for 7 days, but this work is sacred. May it be parenting, painting, making birdhouses….all of it can be sacred. Stay present. Aries may be a good work partner for you to keep you focused as a side note!

Collectively we have all been cocooned for like two years, even if not home all the time, there has been a sense of disconnect from action and each other, a global winter. You are not ready to leave that yet because you have more to do. Even if things look back to normal for you and around you. Even if your life is much the same on the outside, on the inside you are still processing so much. Do not rush this. As much as you can, stay in your cocoon. Take all the moments you can for silence and contemplation. There is no rush. This is how you tend to your heart. Take the time.

The heart must be cleared to fully attend to others, which for most Cancers, is your favorite thing. This is a year of deep spiritual work and not always pleasant. For now, you will not know the why or the how, so just keep showing up every day with yourself, asking and staying present until you feel the shift, the rebirth, the shedding. Then you cry and shed some more. It won’t be like this the whole year and by the end, if not sooner you can enjoy the fruits of your focus and have a new found deeper love for yourself and even others. The love won’t be sacrificial and small but large and from a tended heart. These past two years must have taken a toll on you, now allow yourself to heal.

Love expresses itself through safety and a grounded, tangible safety at that this year. Staying every present and asking the body if it feels safe before moving forward will cultivate stability. There is a temptation to rush ahead of that safety almost impulsively, but it will do no good to rush. Keep focus simply, slow your horse down. This is not what Leos want to hear, but it is a necessary moment in a long life of shining and running. There is a hermit-like quality to this year. It feels like you are alone in a secret little spot in the woods often. Enjoy it more than resisting it.

Fulfillment is how you integrate your lessons this year. It is a celebration, an arrival, a becoming. It might not happen immediately or in the way you exactly want, maybe it is so different that you barely recognize the blessing, but you will not mistake the feeling. You feel elated to have arrived no matter what. At the beginning of this year it might be helpful to do some vision work through writing, visualizing, talking to someone to bounce ideas off of. Keep your dreams very present. Feed them with love and watch them grow and solidify into a reality.

Much of what you live for is others and on the not so great side of that, what others think of you. Bleeding heart, you do not have to sacrifice yourself to prove you care, to make an impact. You do not have to hide under shrouds of humility to prove anything. This year asks you to shine brightly and confidently arriving to receive the love that others want to give you. Embrace leadership. With your heart of service you cannot go wrong. It is expected that you shine and be heard.

This year may feel disorienting. It’s not necessarily a “bad” year on the surface, but it will feel ungrounded. It’s time to come to terms with who you are…again. The cups are identities that are all you or that you wish were you. There they sit compartmentalized, like dreams or little hats that you put on here and there. The integration of these selves, the shedding of others will be the work. This is the year to do it with the Lovers supporting. Journaling, seeking council, playing with personas too may be helpful. Find yourself with love.

Integration happens alone on a mountain which you are likely pretty comfortable with. This is a year to line up the things floating around in your body, mind, and spirit and align them. It is sense making sure, but it is also a much needed break from the chaos. At times it will feel like you aren’t doing anything but your nervous system needs rest before enlightenment. Stay with. It will come.

You are not completely uncomfortable with this fast energy, being such a capable person, but what you are not likely so comfortable with is the scattered nature of your being right now. You are throwing things, seeing what sticks instead of your methodical ways of plotting before acting. Maybe this is ok…for a while, it isn’t sustainable you know, but for a while it might be fun to experiment with this other way. See what sticks. Mentally strong of course, let your heart decide some things. Align with what makes your heart most content, rather than your good sense. This year is experimental.

You need time to think, simply put. The work of your heart will come through the work of your mind. Put yourself in a place where your thoughts can be made clear. On a very practical level you just need to rest after the last two years. You need to not rush yourself into making sense of anything though but by resting you will make sense of a lot. Take the time whenever possible. Any pain you have will be healed by resting and your mind will finally quiet if you allow for it. Shut out too much outside advice for a while too. Not much of it will resonate until you rest.

This is a different kind of year for you, Pisces. It is practical, rooted, with larger energy. It’s good for you though, to rest on the banks, rather than laying in a river letting it take you where it may. Some reason will come to you about what you can do in your practical life to allow for more meandering and dreaming. Do the work this year and you will have more space. Safety making through your environment is the work. There is another part too of remembering that you are worth it and that yes your human needs are ok to have!
