Happy Friday and Season's Greetings!
Tonight I'm sharing with you a new video lesson all about magic loop. And I have the perfect project for learning and practicing this technique as well - the Saturday Sleeves arm warmers (a little holiday gift for you!).
If you haven't already heard of magic loop, it's the technique of working small circumferences that would typically require you to work on double pointed needles (DPNs) on a long circular instead. So if you aren't a fan of DPNs, then it's definitely worth giving magic loop a try!
And I have the perfect project for you to practice on! Saturday Sleeves is a free arm warmer pattern! They are as versatile to wear as they are simple to knit. They are different than typical fingerless mitts because there is no thumb hole – it literally looks like a sleeve! This is actually handy because you can pull them down over your fingers to cover them when you are outside in the cold, but when you need your fingers (such as when your texting, inside a store, driving, etc), you can push them up to your wrist and free up your entire hand.
I made a couple of pairs recently as a special gift (after my friend Cynthia had inspired me with this project idea!) and realized while I was knitting them that it would make a great project to learn magic loop, since you're just knitting every single round. So I made another pair for myself (and for Jeff too - see his picture below!) and created a video lesson that shows you how to make them using the magic loop technique!  Scroll down to watch the lesson or bookmark for later. Learn all about the magic loop in my lesson below - how to join to work in the round, working the technique and even how to bind-off (plus some other tips along the way).
And if you would rather knit your Saturday Sleeves on DPNs, I have a video for that too! Click here to watch my "getting started on DPNs" video.
I wish everyone a safe, healthy and happy holiday!
Thank you so much for following along with me here and sharing our love of knitting together.
