Welcome to our December 2021 newsletter. In this edition, we have summarized some of the things we have been doing in the past few weeks.  Thank you for supporting us in our journey to enable the most vulnerable.  It is with heart-felt gratitude that we celebrate Christmas this year.  From all of us here at FICDO, we wish you a very happy and restful Christmas.

School Feeding Program Going Smoothly
_______________________

FICDO’s school feeding program is going smoothly, thanks to our dedicated volunteers and support from our community and friends.  The number of children in our program remain fifty. Please pray for our children, volunteers and our entire community to flourish and continue serving each other in love.

FICDO's Soul-2-Soul Befriending Program
_______________________

FICDO's Soul-2-Soul Befriending Program is designed to address multiple issues facing the elderly, who have no family and other support system.  In addition to connecting these elderly with members of the community to address loneliness, we used to provide monthly cash payments for some of those who have no means of survival.  While the cash subsidy and material support helped some, others who were not physically able to leave their houses because of old age and illness could not make best use the cash payments. This and other budgetary and operational constraints meant, the program needed to be revamped.  Now, instead of direct cash payments, volunteers bring the elderly packed lunch on daily basis.  Thy also bring other essentials as required and help them with housekeeping.   We would like to thank our volunteers, and supporters who are sponsoring some of these elderly, including via monthly support.

We have got a new Wash Facility
_______________________

We are grateful for the generosity and thoughtfulness of Postgraduate Students in Salale University’s Health Sciences Faculty, who raised funds to install a wash facility at FICDO’s School Feeding Center.  This is most important facility, especially in this age of COVID-19.  Well done to all involved!

Joining Hands for a Good Cause
_______________________

There is a serious shortage of water in Fitche town, where FICDO operates. Water comes in shifts. Worse, if there is power outage (which is common), households can go for weeks without water.  Without water, we would not be able to prepare meals for fifty children (in our school feeding program) and two dozen elderly (in the Soul-2-Soul program) who depend on us for their daily meals.   Thanks to the thoughtful cooperation of Fitche Town Council,  no one has missed a meal so far! When there is shortage, the Town Council generously brings us water from another part of the town using a tanker. This is an ideal example of community and local authorities working together for a good cause.

Fund Raising Update

______________

If you would like to donate, we are continuing to use the same GoFundMe campaign that we created last year. We are very much grateful to our partners and individual supporters for their ongoing monthly support.  Special thanks to our friends at Liffey Valley Vineyard Dublin, for their continuous support over the last 18 months.  Thank you  to all of you who have supported us in many ways!  Together, we are enabling the most vulnerable.
