Job Description:

Ensures accurate and timely coding of inpatient and outpatient records and guides practices to improve documentation for increased patient safety and accurate reimbursement. Additionally, ensures that all data which is created, collected and distributed by the coding process is accurate, timely and meaningful to the organization and ensures that data submitted to various external parties is accurate and reflects actual CHW care, quality and utilization. Other responsibilities include oversight of the operational and budgetary activities of coding and clinical documentation integrity. Provides direction for all hospital coding activities, audits, education, and productivity standards required to reach unbilled targets. Thorough knowledge of clinical coding & reimbursement topics and experience with electronic medical records required. Also responsible for the oversight of system-wide Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) program. The CDI program aims to improve the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation in adherence with industry best practices. The Director will develop strong partnerships and interface with leadership and key physician leaders to reach the goals and objectives of the CDI program.

 

Required Qualifications:

Requires Bachelor’s degree in health information management or related field. Recent and extensive ICD-10 –CM/PCS, CPT and HCPCS experience required . Must be credentialed as an RHIA and CCS with current AHIMA membership . Seven years of business experience in a management role, with an emphasis on hospital coding and reimbursement. Pediatric experience preferred.
