Winter Is Here!
Dear <<First Name>>
While we enjoyed the beautiful fall foliage brought to us by fall season, the winter is finally here.  Our trees have to survive the cold temperature.
Report Your Falling/Dying/Broken Trees - How?

We hope you all are enjoying the beautiful tress that we supplied and planted at your residents. While trees add lots of beauty and provides shade to your property, however, when they are dying or broken or falling they cause lots of problems such as pest attraction, they look ugly and they could fall on houses since they are not strong anymore.

To prevent these issues, please click on the link below to replace any falling trees.

P.S. Look out for FTAP mail in the post. You can report any falling tree with their images.

What we need to know
Winter and tree survival:
It is amazing how trees withstand the harsh winter and freezing temperature. Most animals migrate to warmer temperature for them to survive but trees do not migrate but rather device ways to survive the freezing temperature. This brings us to the questions -

a) How do winter trees survive?
Trees have bark that varies in color, density and texture which protect them from extreme cold temperature. The tree bark is similar to our skin that act as protection against cold temperature by conserving heat.
Trees retain moisture for survival by dropping their leaves to reduce transpiration particularly, trees that have broad leaves (deciduous trees) while those that have narrow leaves (conifers) retain their leaves.

b) Can trees freeze to death during winter?
Sometimes trees may not be able to tolerate the freezing temperature, they will burst open and explode. That is right!  I know this is an eye opener for many people. The tree sap can be frozen at extreme cold temperature beyond the tree tolerant.  As the tree sap freezes, it expands thereby adding pressure on the bark of the tree which results to explosion.

P.S. Thanks to our readers who sent us their questions. Please, keep your questions coming! If you have an idea for a short article or photo to share, send them our way.
