Important update about VYCON22
Due to the ongoing uncertainty around Covid-19, Make It York have made the decision to move next month’s Visit York Tourism Conference to a virtual event.
After exploring all options, it was looking increasingly unlikely that we’d be able to host the in-person networking event that we had envisaged. As we want as many people as possible to have the opportunity to hear from our stellar line-up of speakers, taking the event virtual is the most inclusive and safest way of doing so.
The line-up of guest speakers will remain the same, with insights from Signe Jungersted and Peter Rømer Hansen, Founding Partners of Group NAO; Richard Nicholls, Head of Research and Forecasting at VisitBritain; and Aileen Crawford, Head of Tourism & Conventions at Glasgow Convention Bureau – with a welcome from Sarah Loftus, the newly appointed Managing Director of Make It York. A panel of tourism businesses including Abbi Ollive, Head of Marketing and Sales at Castle Howard; Andrew Lowson, Executive Director at York BID; Rebecca Hill, Managing Director at Galtres Lodge; and a guest speaker from LNER will also share their vision for the visitor economy and how we take a more holistic approach to York as a destination. BBC Look North & BBC Radio York Presenter Clare Frisby will still compere proceedings.
The online event will take place on Thursday 13th January, between 09.30 - 11.30am. If you've already signed up to the Visit York Tourism Conference, you don’t need to do anything and we will automatically email you the link to join the virtual conference a few days prior to the event. For those who purchased a ticket, you will automatically be refunded and will still be emailed the link to join the virtual event. If you haven't yet booked your place, please sign up for the free event here.
We’re disappointed to not host this event in person as planned, but we hope you can understand that the safety of our delegates, speakers and staff must come first. Make It York are exploring options to host another networking event in Spring, which we hope to be able to hold in-person.
We hope to see you at the virtual conference in January and appreciate your understanding.
