Oasis Music presents
All Forms of Light
A Streaming Concert Event

When: December 18 (Saturday), 2021 at 7 p.m.
Where: Click to watch the streaming on youtube or on our web page ecckcb.org

The inspiration for our title came from a remark “… All forms of light come with some form of shadows . . .” made by the poet Amanda Gorman, the 1st National Youth Poet Laureate of the US.  To further quote from a poem of hers titled “The Hill We Climb”,
When day comes we ask ourselves,
where can we find light in this never-ending shade?
….
The new dawn blooms as we free it
For there is always light,
if only we’re brave enough to see it
If only we’re brave enough to be it

Sometimes, it feels as if we are living in perpetual darkness--and, in these days of the pandemic, more so. Nevertheless, light does exist within in its various forms, ready to shine. In her poem above, Amanda Gorman urges us to be it--to be the light. As we hold hope for light in the midst of darkness, Oasis Music would like to meet her challenge by presenting a form of light that is a diverse spectrum of wonderful music.
Please join us on December 18th for Oasis Music Streaming Concert, All Forms of Light.

Glowing QCDs
Your Year End Gift!

There is a super giving option available to you if you have a traditional Individual Retirement Account (IRA) and are over 70 ½. It is called the Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD).

Here is how it works. Ask your IRA administrator to distribute funds DIRECTLY to the Presbytery of Boston from an IRA comprised of deductible contributions and earnings.

If the check is made out to a qualified charitable organization, i.e., the Presbytery, you are 70 ½ or older, and the funds have transferred from a traditional IRA before December 31, 2021, the money is not counted as income for tax purposes. This could lower your income tax burden and other fees or premiums that are means tested.

Gifts of any size may be made via a QCD. But, by law, you cannot exceed $100,000.

If your distribution is to the Presbytery, it will give off a very warm, holiday GLOW. As in… the Presbyteries of Boston and Northern New England have created a unique youth ministry called New England Glow. Glow is designed for small congregations with a limited number of youth members. There are opportunities for fellowship, learning and even a confirmation class. You don’t have to be part of a mega-congregation to get the mega-youth-group-glow.

Gifts to the Presbytery of Boston help support this ministry!

Call your IRA administrator now to help you fill out the required paperwork to make a QCD distribution well before December 31. Talk to your tax adviser about the gift and our acknowledgement. And, please ask that the check be made out to the Presbytery of Boston and sent to the Rev. Andrew Parmelee, Treasurer, Presbytery of Boston, 281 High Street, Hingham, MA 02043-3357.

Thank you!
With advent blessings
Council, Presbytery of Boston
